Does anyone actually strictly play the game "Right"?

Post » Thu Sep 29, 2011 11:31 am

So I wonder is there actually any sticks in the mud who don't mess around in these games? :sadvaultboy:

By messing around I mean being crazy , jumping off cliffs , robbing people blind , assassinating random NPCs , slaying dragons nvde , etc! Now in Skyrim with even more new hilarious options like gay orc on argonian marriages and stuff!

I wonder because I have seen on gamespot Saints Row 1 & 2 both got like an 8/10 from their reviewer and you know what that tells me? That they didn't mess around......

So I think like the same thing , when the reviewers all rated Oblivion a 10/10 and when they do rate Skyrim a 10/10 , do the reviewers screw around? How can they really call it 10/10 if they don't explore that? But yeah , basically curious if anyones really a big stick in the mud and dead serious even though its a video game...

Oh yeah also , if you vote "Other" on list of things you do when messing around please do tell what original thing I didn't think of it is that you do so I can do it too lol

Follow random NPC's around just to see what they do...

Explore other people's homes. Arnora's house in Bruma and Armande Christophe's houses were like, way better than mine and I wanted them.

Lead the adoring fan up to the top of some really tall mountain, I can't recall the name, and push him off. Edit: Dive Rock. That was it, thanks ImperialSkum.

Get a ton of wolves and bandits to chase me down the road, and when an Imperial Legion soldier gets off his horse to help defend me, I steal his horse. (Did that today, actually.)

Not mess around? But that is what games are made for! D:

I try to stick to my way of doing things but then I stray... because I am curious as to what may happen.

You identify messing around with doing crazy stuff.

The only other option you give is concentrating on the main story.

You are leaving out lots of stuff. Like just bumming around Dungeons, or collecting all the wine in the province, or stealing perceived items from NPCs that you covet, or similiar. Those types of things don't seem crazy as you list/define them.

In Oblivion, I would hunt down the woman that wrote the "Guide to X" books (Alessia Ottus I think?) and kill her. Why? Because she's a hypocrite, a jerk, and downright evil.

But other than that, yeah I guess all of my characters are serious. I don't get a kick out of random chaotic lawlessness.

I would place very weak rune traps in everyone's houses in the middle of the night. Turn invisible, wait til morning, and watch everyone go crazy.

In Oblivion I didnt finish the main questline :whistling: I got so into all the side quests and tons of little things to do that I got bored of the game before I finished the main quest lol. But this time around im playing on the PS3 so I will get it done for sure.

I also like doing things like wandering into random dungeons & looting them, assassinating nameless NPC's and sneaking into stores and stealing.

To be honest, people who fool around in the game at least did all the options once.
Except the Dragon thing unless they have a mod.

Wow, people's sense of humor can be unnervingly gross.

The results of the poll really goes to show why we need Police in real life.......

I for one, do not mess around. I have a conscience in real life, and I see no reason to fantasize a roleplaying experience that would break my intregrity. Even in roleplaying games I keep myself accountable, because I do not find it fun to kill innocent people.... ever.

I only kill in self defense, in TES games.

I don't even recall oblivion getting a 10/10...well maybe from one of the smaller websites/magazines but those guys basically give 10's away.

When playing Oblivion, if I accidentally steal something, I use it as an excuse to try to start a war between the guards and townspeople using frenzy spells before reloading an earlier save.

I get that you are a straight-shooter in life and in game, but if you are saying that people who roleplay differently than you have no intregrity...

EDIT: I see now what you were saying =]

I probably don't strictly play the game right, but I don't usually mess around in games like this. Don't know why, it's just never appealed to me. Doesn't entertain me.

I have a good sense of humor and all, but I guess when I play any game I RP to an extent and do whatever I'd actually do in real life.

Er...notable exceptions are when I play GTA or Red Dead Redemption :D

Edit: to clarify, while I do RP in videogames (it just kind of happens), I don't give a [censored] what other people do unless it's like coop and they're messing up my game world. Not about to judge people for playing a game differently, you know?

Playing the game "right" is a subjective term. It depends upon your definition of "right". In a world where you can do anything you freaking want (such as commit genocide :P), sticking strictly to the main quest and side quests and not messing around a little on the side, really makes for a dull time. ;)

Usually I go through the game once "right" then I do basically anything I want after.

lol, You are trying to warp what I said.

I would break "my own" integrity if I made my gameplay style opposite of my real personality. I never said that the others have lost their integrity by default when messing around.... I am simply inferring that my conscience strings are still pulled on, if I am tempted to do something out of my character. It is not my place to assume whether that happens to others, because I cannot read minds (thankfully so by looks of this thread, some pretty wierd thoughts are being shared openly.... lol).
