Does anyone else feel violated?

My buttocks are sore from the violent ass-whupping I receive daily from F:NV...it's a good thing my PS3 is only 2 feet from me because I get up constantly to reset the damn thing.Which is good in a way cause I'm burning calories during this workout, here's the process...freeze/never-ending loading screen, get up,walk over, hold down the power key,BEEP BEEP BEEP(which the sound of the beeps now gives me cold chills)glug glug click click--SHUTDOWN.Pace agrily for a min or 2,hit the button on controller, start up,sign in, msg my friend to tell him it froze again(just to keep records of how many times)click on disc, loading, loading, hit X, walk to kitchen, make coffee, come back, load game, curse at long load time, start at last save, walk around in Laggsville-population, me.And repeat process.I got a post locked out already because I expressed my disgust of the game so I will not go into full details of the issues, but I have to say,I've been reading some of the posts and it makes me laugh. Some ass-bags on here are blaming the customers and saying it's their fault-how?And I got down-talked as well for exclusively blaming Bethesda and nothing on Obsidian, well who's fault is it really then? They're equally to blame, one for making and one for publishing.I have NEVER had a game freeze and glitch this much and I've been on everything from Atari to PC playing games. This is the only game in my rather impressive collection of games that locks up solid GUARANTEED every hr at least. 2 of the worst places for this is Bitter Springs and Camp Searchlight with an honourable mention going to Primm. I have quests on my first attempt to play that are completely screwed due to programming issues(Great Khan's-Melissa,ED-E) I mean c'mon,Oblivion was worth a GoTYE,one of the best games i've ever played, hell,I'll probably never finish all the quests in that, but at least I COULD. All the programmers must have been stoned when they slammed this thing together. And if it fries my system(80GB,BWC)I will be vewwy vewwy angwwy. I think when I'm done with this violation of a game I'll use it as a coaster,or a frisbee, something anyway besides a game. And for the big-mouth trolls out there who blame the people and the systems, I have a fan blowing on the system during play to cool it and I clean it regularly,so it's not the system and I sure as hell don't try to freeze it.So in conclusion, Bethesda,Obsidian, bite me. Oh, and JINGLE JANGLE!!!!!

I certainly don't feel too good after the game DID fry my system. I really love the game, but I don't think I'll ever play it again or Fallout 3(or any other Bethesda/Obsidian game that uses this game engine. It's good to see the trolls haven't attacked you yet, I had an annoying one yesterday trying to say it was my fault that the game fried my ps3. Good luck with your game, hope your system doesn't get fried as well.

Yeah Spideywebs I was reading the back and forth rant between you and the other guy which is part of why I started my own rant about the people/game and I can tell you ol' dog, if this game cooks my PS3(my $650 BWC 80gb with a game bought with it-$700 and I plugged it in and it caused a surge which blew up a $300 TV-$1000 PS3) rest assured,I will make it my mission in life to sue the pricks responsible for the damage done to it and DEFINETLY NEVER buy a gamesas/Obsidian game ever again. And,as sad as it is,the game itself IS good, but the issues are such a killer...of PS3's and fun level. Too bad about your PS3,but don't stop gaming, get a new one and use the Fallout NV case as PS3 coaster and the disc as a frisbee for your dog...

My PS3 got the awesome YLOD after multiple hard freezes in which I had to hold the button down to turn the system off, low and behold after like the 20th time freezing my PS3 did not turn back on light turned green then yellow really quick then flashing red, woo hoo :| (I can't say that it was definitely NV's fault, but I'm sure it didn't help, I have original 60Gb system with 300Gb upgraded drive). Anyways I took my PS3 apart and fixed it. Now what I do is after about ever half hour I quit out to the XMB and restart new vegas, because I have found that it always freezes somewhere between a half hour and an hour.

sign in, msg my friend to tell him it froze again(just to keep records of how many times)

This is where you went wrong. Try and play without connecting to the PSN, I have yet to have the game freeze on me when I do that. When I am signed in I freezes atleast once every half hour.

I was playing New Vegas on my 40gig had a huge freeze and then my Blu ray laser was shot. Im not going to lay the blame on New Vegas cus its an old system but pretty odd. So I fixed it gave the old machine to the little bro and purchased a new 120g Ps3 slim. The only thing I have installed is New Vegas with the update and I feel your pain. Freezes every half hour or so sometimes less, sometimes more. I'd have less freezes trying to run this game on a Pentium II computer. The freezing is a game breaker. Wait a year to buy it, I waited a year to buy Fallout 3 had no problems, shouldve done the same for this one :/

I can't get further in the game, it constantly locks up. I can load old saves and play fine, but any of my recent-ish saves will lockup if I even think about doing anything more taxing than walking around the wasteland, and sometimes it will lock up then too.

I'm really frustrated, I don't play a lot of games but I have always looked forward to Bethesda titles and I can overlook a few bugs, even annoying ones. But *constant* lockups to the point where the game is completely unplayable is pathetic.

What can I say. Non-stop freezing. My PS3 recently returned from a maintenence and lazer repair, and is regularily cleaned, so there's absolutely nothing wrong with it.

My love for the Fallout series was ressurected and demolished singlehandedly by Bethesda.. and I feel horribly violated, well mostly like a giant idiot, for buying F:NV... It's really a shame that more companies can't take a cue from blizzard and take the time to polish a game before throwing it out for easy money to the masses. I'm done buying bathesda anything for a good long while. Sorry, but burn me once with Fallout 3, burn me twice... I'll go play pong.... at least that still works.

and PS. thanks again for treating ps3 gamers like dirt. First we dont recieve DLC, and then we get to wait for a "patch" that from all appearences does nothing.

First off, it's a timed exclusive just like the DLC on FO3. Second, why would you even want DLC for such a horribly bugged game, 360 users will just have a nice first look at all the new glitches/bugs that will come with the DLC.

Yeah, I too spent $600 for my system(60gb, BC upgraded to 320gb) and was royally peeved when it quit while playing FNV and gave me the blinking red lights of horror. I think I'll trade in New Vegas for something else, maybe even towards a KZ3 preorder. I'm done with Fallout until they use a new engine for their games or fix this one completely. I can honestly say that Fallout 3 and NV would be some of my favorite games if it weren't for the terrible glitches and their tendency to kill poor unsuspecting ps3s...I really wish Bethesda would compensate me for the damage it has done to my system, but I wont hold my breath.

Umm,Painless,Nooooooot to say you're wrong, but, you're wrong. A lot of the time now I don't sign in anymore because I'm so pissed off I forget to and it still freezes anyway. I don't really get what the PSN has to do with the game locking up or freezing-never had that problem with any other game. It's FNV.Simple as that.If that happens to you ,it may just be a coincidence. My anology is this: F:NV is like an alcoholic, it has good days and bad days.

Arkhaine, that is truly a sin. Blowing a 60gb..that's an original system best one made to date, plays anything. But it's good that you were able to salvage it. My friend had a 60gb but he flipped out and slammed it on the floor 1/2 dozen times once when it wouldn't load any PS3 games and f'd up the Blu-ray player so-no more 60gb.Little did he know at the time and later on it happened to me as well,he may have picked up the Vers.3 glitch which messed up a lot of systems i guess...oops for him-but he's a [censored]. I never thought about quitting to reset the game-so to speak, good idea. The only time I quit out is when it freezes,or I'm scamming the Vendortron,i'll have to try that.

I don't. I bought the PC and PS3 versions and both have had minor issues but overall they have been pretty solid. The PC version needed some tweaks to run optimally but since the latest patch it (dll file.) is no longer needed. (Doesn't work any more basically.) Even with lower FPS it's not as rough feeling as pre-patch.

I gave the PS3 version to my friend and he has had a couple (Exactly 2.) freezes in 60+ hours of play but thanks to my warning to save often, he never has far to go to get what was lost back when/if it does.

As a long time fan of Bethesda games on the Gamebryo engine it's pretty much what I expected.

they closed the topic, but i did apologize for my mis understanding, as i can see how it can ruin the system now. next time don't be some much of a dlck and i might have actually listened to you (although i relize your ps3 fried, im not gamesas or obsidian im just trying to help). your case was legit, but theres so many others who try to blame the company for there wrong doings. i was only trying to get an understanding out of the idea nothing more, but you got rude and i gave it back (my fault for going down to your level)

i do want to ask though and put the past behind, are you able to play anything on your ps3? cause im having an issue with a black screen i keep getting when i start up NV

If you want to submit a bug report or get assistance with the problem that's great but ranting and flaming members is not.

Return to Fallout: New Vegas
