Does anyone else find this strange?

We all know that Splash damage is based in London. And if you don't know, they're based in London. Yet the release date in Europe is once again after the American release date. The same thing happens with Rockstar's games, with them being based in Scotland (I think). Why? shouldn't the region closest to the devs recieve the game first? It just seems a little unfair to me. What do you all think?

It could based off where the publisher/ distributor is based, personally I have no idea, just can speculate.

We Americans need the extra days for experience because in the end European teams > NA teams...

If it came to being a pro gamer, I would move to Europe that's where the money is at.

Bethesda, who are American, are the release date specifiers, they chose May 10th, and the norm is America gets it on the Tuesday, Europe on the Friday, and Australia in the never because it got banned for saying the word "diarrhea" at one point and depicting scenes of nose-picking.

another reason i've heard is that certain countries in europe are difficult to get certification, etc than others and the whole of europe gets delayed for these few difficult countries.

Ubisoft Montreal are based in Canada, and Assassin's Creed 2 and Brotherhood got better pre-order bonuses in Europe than in North America.

After THAT, I'm not surprised by US getting anything earlier.

i dont really buy the whole "uk street day is a friday" Games like CoD get released on a tuesday , dont quote me on this but some other games of top of my head wow: cataclysm , halo etc , Tbh it isnt a major set back having the game after another continent but it means coming to forums and stuff a waste of time unless you love spoilers.

and just to add if the publisher is american it dosnt mean anything as most games are made in european countries , i think germany put most games on discs, so its all bizare :D

I already stated this in a thread before about how it seems a lil unfair that a company based from your home country.....doesnt release the game in thus home country first.

I thought it was quite dirty and despicable also - But as stated here "another reason i've heard is that certain countries in europe are difficult to get certification, etc than others and the whole of europe gets delayed for these few difficult countries."

The reason why UK suffers so much is cause for a majority of releases - we come under EU, So we also go through EU Laws/restrictions, rather than our own.

Which concludes - that Australia svcks aswell as some other parts of EU, (I <3 AUS really though).

But the reason being is that AUS has and always will be an absolute stick in the mud when it comes to the "Laws of gaming" - Every title always has hassle with the AUS governments/laws to release titles that have rating over Teen, Which to me is quite ridiculous considering they always end up letting the game in - within reason + Parental locks etc.

So games cant obviously just "Release here" whenever and however they want, theres so many hurdles to jump over first - and sadly, Because AUS always makes everything an absolute hassle - We have to wait on them jumping hurdles sometimes also.

USA are very lenient when it comes to releases of movies/games etc.

Hence why its so easy for releases to open up early to USA.

Overall I think this has more to do with the general street release day being Tuesdays in NA and, I assume, Fridays in Europe. And while I know some go against the grain and chose their own release dates, I am pretty sure this also entails extra delivery costs; most stores get one electronics (by that I mean music/movie/game CDs and DVDs) delivery per week - at least it's always been this way in the stores I worked at - and having a game released on a different date would cause all kinds of headaches : either a second, out-of-schedule delivery, or ask stores to hold onto the products, off the shelves (something not all stores have alot of room for) for a few days.

Thus, as I said, I'm sure this has more to do with ease of distribution than anything else...

Actually, I'm in America. I just thought that it was a little unfair that the country developing the game gets it after us. And I suppose that Bethesda being the publisher could affect it...

It's not strange at all actually, this happens with all kinds of games, and has been happening for quite a while now. I do find it funny though that there is always someone who complains about this for every game.
