Does anyone else hate Solstheim?

Don't read this if you haven't been there yet. There's no spoilers, but I don't want to taint your opinion with my cynicism.
The place is either dark as hell and covered in ash (side note: my boots make no sound on ash, so that's kinda weird) or snowy, in my opinion the most boring and annoying weather/region type in the game. The quests in Dragonborn are awesome, but they're the only things that saved the dlc for me. (Granted, I haven't done every single thing, but most of it.) The ash spawn and other monsters are annoying.
Apocrypha's design is way cool, but going there is just as much of a chore as the oblivion gates in Oblivion. Every time I go there I start off with a positive attitude, but three minutes in I'm like "alright, where's the [censored] end to this thing?" The reavers (is that what they're called? Those ghost looking things that cast spells???) aren't hard to kill, but they're way annoying. I don't even try to 'fight' them, I just go up to one and smack it until its gone so it doesn't interupt my game anymore.
And I'm sure I'm not the first one who has said this, but lets face it, the dragon riding is a ****ing joke.
I don't wanna sound like a whiny little [censored], even tho that's exactly what I am right now, but I don't even want to go back to do everything else, cause I hate that place.
Does anyone feel the same? Or what do you like about it? Maybe I will be inspired by you to play more.

I'll admit that it doesn't have the most appealing visuals, but all of the quests have been gold so far. Loved all of them that I've done. The people there for the most part are also more interesting. I just love how... interesting it is. I would definitely give it a second chance!

I love Solstheim! (I swear someone at Bethesda loves me, because I've gotten so much of what I wanted in the DLCs).

Spoiler
Have you played Morrowind? Solstheim channels the Dunmer charm ("Keep moving"), and the beautifully stark landscapes of Northern Vvardenfell. I get unexpectedly hit with nostalgia from the sound effects and music.

I think there's a lot of variety packed into a small space when you consider there's ashlands, Redoran architecture, Telvanni architecture and then the Northern areas which are typical Solstheim from Bloodmoon. And that's not even addressing the unique dungeons, enemies and NPCs.

Apocrypha was also Lovecraftian enough to make me show it to friends who appreciate Mythos. :P I think when a game makes you call friends over to the screen with "hey, look at this", it's a winner.

If you are finding Apocrypha or the ashlands repetitive you may just need a break. Play something else for a while and come back to Solstheim next time you get the urge to solve a Dwemer puzzle or be attacked by werebears.

Also; your boots are supposed to make a noise when running across the ash. Your game might be bugged.

Not me - I adore the island. I'm considering starting a character who lives on Solstheim and treats Skyrim as the 'foreign place', in fact.

Solstheim is supposed to look like that, visuals don't make a game

Solstheims snowy regions are a lot more appealing then those of Skyrim themself. Because I think Morrowind is still the best part of the series (3,4 and 5 in comparison) with a lot more variety in everything (armor, weapons, artifacts, landscape, quests) I really loved it playing through this DLC. I felt at home when I arrived at Ravenrock.

Yeah, I get that. I'm just saying Solstheim isn't that fun to look at for some. Don't mistake me for someone who obsesses over graphics.

Edit: Also, yeah of course Solstheim is supposed to look like that. I didn't think they made it look like that for a joke.

I love Solsthiem , especially the northern Vvardenfell climate.
But I must admit I do miss Skyrim after a few days there..

I was in Raven Rock for over almost an hour, simply talking to all the new individuals and getting as many quests as I could get before setting out. After exploring the Raven Rock Mine and returning a Pickaxe, I set out the gate (finally) but I saved it and turned it off to do it later.

Solstheim definitely reminds me of Morrowind, and I like it.

I love the place. It reminds me of Morrowind. It may sound strange but I would like to see more ashlands, more of those mushroom trees and... more Redoran Guards :D .

It's thanks to this DLC I decided to make a new character, a Dunmer Wizard, so I could put on him those fantastic looking Telvanni Robes.

Agreed with Abrinth, nostalgia coupled by my appreciation for Lovecraftian horror made this DLC a done deal for me. I've just about done everything there is to do on Solstheim, and I'm still bringing my Dunmer paladin over there for radiant quests (and probably will be for a while).
