I recently changed my companion from lydia to illia who is a female mage. She specialises in frost magic but I gave her a few very powerful fire and shock staff's to use as extra powers. to say she can now kick some would be an understatement as the other day while visiting the mages college I got mugged by a dragon that took most of my health off me before I knew what had happened. So I ran under a stone arch to hide from the dragon and heal myself before taking on the dragon myself. But while I was healing myself my companion unleashed all hell on the dragon. I could hear the battle between the two of them but could not see what was happening from where I was taking cover. But just as I healed myself and was about to charge out to take on the dragon it all when quiet. my initial thoughts were that the dragon had flew away. But as I went over to where my companion was standing I then noticed a dead dragon at her feet. She had taken down a dragon in about a minute all by herself.I wasn't sure if I would get the dragon soul because I never got one hit on the dragon. But the dragon then burst into flames and I absorbed its soul. My companion is a true dragon born. so does anyone else have such powerful companions.

She's not a Dragonborn, she's just a badass. You still absorbed the soul, so you're still the only Dragonborn around.
