Does anyone else here plan to role-play characters from othe

Post » Tue Sep 28, 2010 6:26 pm

After I make a few unique characters on open world games like TES, or really any games with a CC system. I always like to roleplay as characters from my favorite books/tv shows/games. If you guys do this as well what are some of the past characters you've made? And what characters do you plan to make in Skyrim? (I figure we can could discuss and refine our builds and generally pass some time on here) :)

Past Characters-
Morrowind:
Vegeta [DBZ] (blue shirt/pants, chitin cuirrass/guantlets/boots, bonemold pauldrens, destruction magic.)

Oblivion:
Alucard [Hellsing] (vampire, illusion build)

Fallout 3:
Jayne Cobb [Firefly] (guns/grenades build)
Mugen [Samurai Champloo] (melee build)
Revolver Ocelot [Metal Gear Solid] (revolvers only run)

Fallout New Vegas:
The Joker [Batman] (melee/explosives build)
River Tamm [Firefly] (unarmed/pistols build, wild wasteland trait)

Dragon Age Origins:
Guts [Berserk] (two handed warrior build)
Casca [Berserk] (sword and shield warrior build)

Mass Effect 1&2:
Malcolm Reynolds Shepard [Firefly] (Vandguard build)
Philip J. Fry [Futurama] (engineer, he died at the end)

Skyrim builds:
Vin [Mistborn series] ( duel glass daggars warrior/rogue type, use the pushing dragon shout as steel alloymancy, use other dragon shouts/magic to fill in other metals, still reading first book so build might change)
Dexter Morgan [Dexter] (unarmed if its still in, I'll probably play the game first before I decide if I could make a decent build for him)
Altair [Assassin's Creed] (stealthy single dagger character)

What are yours? Any advice for my skyrim builds?

I used a captain america mod and a throw items mod in Oblivion once. Good times, but I like to make my own character.

No but that's not to say I dont draw inspiration from other media.

My Morrowind character was inspired by a combination of gambit, hitman 47, legolas, and solid snake.

But I dont create existing characters direct

Annah and Fall from Grace with Morte, from Planescape: Torment.

A picture of http://i1098.photobucket.com/albums/g376/Indep/ScreenShot87.jpg

And a repeat from another thread of Annah's crime spree.
Sounds like my last Oblivion character, well horse killing, peasant slaughtering and guard butchering with bare fists was also involved.
As well as disrupting the peace by singing off key, chasing a countess through her castle wielding a skull going whoooaaah.
Assassination, assault on royalty, assault on priests and members of elite units of the emperors bodyguards, body snatching.
Grave robbing, theft, assault in general, treason during the defense of several cities, genocide, daedra worshiping, black mail, poisoning livestock.
Being a ne'er do well, breaking and entering, pick pocketing, lewdness, blasphemy, mayhem, prankery, framing innocent people.
Betrayal, drug use, consorting with criminals, not paying bar tabs, resisting arrest, trespassing on goverment property.. heck probably a lot more I've forgotten.

Hmm, this is a good idea. I think I'm going to roleplay Charlie Sheen when Skyrim comes out.

Lol, Joker in NV is a cool idea! I mostly use my own characters but I've made a bunch of tribute characters that, other than Dr. Doom, never got too far up level-wise.

Morrowind:
Thor (marvel), levitating barbarian with an enchanted hammer and lightning abilities

Oblivion:
Doctor Doom, magical powerhouse, enchanted heavy armor, blade. A starfleet officer from Earth. Skeletor with a mod that changed a dark seducer into a playable race. Gandolf the Grey. Robin Hood.

Fallout 3: Bruce Wayne.

For Skyrim I'm thinking I'll start with my own character and if levitation shows up I'll try out a new Thor.

Same here though along with other things from WH40k, but with taking inspiration rather then a copy instead putting my own twist to it.

Bringing back my khornanite from Daggerfall into Skyrim. In Morrowind, it was an argonian Nurgle cultist, and in Oblivion a breton Tzeentch cultist (I'm so bad :sadvaultboy: ).

Nothing from 40K, only fantasy. It fits better in TES than 40K

As for Fallout, nothin'. Just me.

I never really make a character like that. I always build a character that is most enjoyable to me. But if I were to make one I would make Richard Rahl from the Sword of Truth series and he would have leather armor with a artifact longsword. and he would be an Imperial.

No i prefer to build my characters around my own personality. But that said, when i don't, it does happen that i take inspiration from other characters. But i never just steal fictional characters.

Depending on what hand to hand is like:

Riddike (Chronicles of Riddike/Pitch Black). Stealth/Melee char, one/two daggers or snapping their necks and so forth. Gawd I love that man.

Richard Cypher (Sword of Truth book series). Stealth/Archery initially. Then more progressively more into one handed sword with the occasional magic use (Dragon shouts would actually work -really- well for this character, given his whole "use magic on instinct" deal, rather than practiced displays like fireballs).

Kahlan (Same as Richard). Melee char with a little bit of magic, namely touch spells that alter NPCs disposition and and perhaps a 'force companion' spell if one is included in the game.

Thats it really, to be honest... Usually I just make my own characters (or more often, let them naturally evolve without my deciding anything in advance). The above will probably just be when I'm a bit bored and want to play around with different character builds and char gen. :b

Nope, and I can't imagine playing like that. Not bashing it, if you like it, go for it, but it's not for me.

The chief problem I have with roleplaying as a character from some other form of medium is that I have to come up with a reason as to why the hell they are there...

Nope. Tamriel is a place to play Tamrelic characters.

And besides, even if I tried, I can't play canon characters, even if I roleplay in a previously existing universe. I have to play originals. Dunno why.
