Does anyone else not see the point in continuing after the m

It's one of the things I don't like about Elder Scrolls as a whole and they tried to ruin Fallout 3 by adding Broken Steel, luckily you can delete that add on. Anyways it makes the whole game feel anti climatic and there really isn't much point in exploring any further when there isn't any over arching story guide you. Wish they would add some store stuff at the end of the game. I always create a new character later on down the road.

Side-quests. But after a while, those get repetitive and boring.

Do the Dark Brotherhood quests, they never get boring and are a whole lot better than the main quest.

Quests aren't really the only thing, though. On the PC, once the Construction Kit comes out, I'll be building houses and such for myself. Plus, other mods.

I've always felt the point of the Elder Scrolls games wasn't to follow a story, but rather to create your OWN stories. A sandbox for roleplaying.

When I start playing again I'm going to create a mage character so I can go through the Mages guild next.

Well sandbox games are about setting your own goals and not being driven to any specific goal. If you only goal is to complete the so called main quest, well that is the game for you. I am 140 hours in and have only done a a few main quest objectives and only completed one faction quest line. Just so much to do

The guild quests are fun though if your above level 30 they are way to easy even on expert/master ... The civil war quest was pretty dull and anti-climactic; should have been called civil skirmish that no one really cares about.

I LOVE the idea that you can continue after the main quest is over, you get to play your character longer after you complete the "main" story.

I do not see a problem here. <_<

I do wish after the main quest was over there was things added like different world interactions and maybe some new quest from other people unlock after the events of the main quest are over. The quest should relate to after the events of the main quest. :liplick:

If you feel like Skyrim is over when the Main Quest is over...then I don't think you're playing it the "right way". And I'm very hesitant to say that to anyone.

I explored a ton of places, had about 100 locations uncovered, I don't know exactly how many dungeons I ended up exploring because it didn't always say clear dungeon when I went through one, did the civil war storyline, did the main quest and the compansions stuff took about 44 hours, it was awesome but I need to create a new character so I can go through the mages guild and find ways to do other things just want a good end for the character lol

By ruining, you mean rectifying what is regarded by almost everyone, including Bethesda, as a stupid mistake?

Fallout 3's ending brought a sense of closure to the whole game and it showed how the events helped shaped the world. Broken Steel svcked because none of the stuff that happened after the main quest made sense. If you polluted the water it shows everyone dead at the end but in the broken steel mod you still have people all over the place it didn't make any sense. It never felt like it was part of the main story and it was rushed

Not being able to keep playing after beating New Vegas was the worst thing about that game.

As far as I recall from playing the first two fallout games was they had definite endings as well. Why shouldn't New Vegas come to an end? I like seeing how my actions shaped the world.

This is why I tend to leave the main quest in TES games until I've done everything else that I want to do with that character. I wouldn't want the game to end after the main quest, but personally I like to end any particular playthrough on a high note with the world saved and my character the conquering hero. I am glad that I have the choice to either do the main quest first and other stuff afterwards, or put off the main quest until later, or not even finish it at all if I prefer - that's the beauty of TES.

I was going to make some sarcastic remark regarding the intelligence of some of the posters, but then I remembered that I'd rather go FUS DO RA immediately after entering Mistveil Keep in Riften.

I'll probably create a thieves guild and dark brotherhood playthrough after the main storyline.

Don't forget to make a backup of your game save guys. What I did in oblivion when I switched characters I would completely exit the game, back up the whole save folder to save folder.zip then rename the current save folder to save folder, and rename the old character's save folder to whatever the right name is.

Believe it or not I found this to be much easier to work with than having them all mixxed together.
