Does anyone else...

I wish my character could talk. I wish Beth had recorded lines for the character we play, in different dialects for different races. I wish I had a voice like Max Von Sydow.
That's three wishes, I'm out.

Elder Scrolls games are about YOU being the main character, not playing as someone else. So you are supposed to voice your character.

No.

I get slightly irked when my character has a voice I don't want that character to have, or says something that character wouldn't say.

I don't want my Bosmer Barbarian saying "BY AZURA! BY AZURA! BY AZURA!" in the Adoring Fan's voice.

I don't think this works for the elder scrolls series.

Voiced or silent protagonists in RPGs is a huge point of contention if you don't know... and http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/No_true_Scotsman supports voiced.

Voice acting is good for a linear story-based RPG, but not an openworld do whatever RPG.

I'm torn on this topic, on the one hand, yes, as long as there were a plethora of dialogue options and there would have to be a vast array for voices and accents as well, not to mention male and female voices. I would imagine a couple of dozen voices in total, and thats for the player character.

Now on the other hand, if they were to implement it, they most likely wouldn't do it right and there would be a lack of other things to compensate for the storage space of the voices/dialogue.

So in a perfect world, yes. In a Beth game, I don't see it happening.

I'm normally against silent protagonists, but really, no. Not in this game.

NO. Emphatically. Funny, my 8 year old was saying she wished my PC spoke. Then she started watching more and thoughtfully said, "Daddy, you know if your guy spoke, he wouldn't sound like you." :)

I hear the next Xbox will have built-in Kinect. Perhaps the next Elder Scrolls will let you speak the lines with your own voice.

I don't think TES needs it.

Since I play with headphones, what do you think my neighbors would say if I say here talking loudly to myself? Why doesn't the same logic apply to "combat shouts" (oof, ouch, arrgh etc)? Also it would help out listening to other peoples let's plays. No, I'd like it to be an option. If well implemented, it could be perfect for both camps.

As for voicing, part of character generation where most of the voice actors also do the characters lines.

In a way, I'll say yes...but in a way, I'll also say no. Might be cool if done well but the complaint threads would be stacked to the moon (they pretty much already are)...And only if my character did my dialogue lines as written. Since I'm a dark elf I wouldnt mind hearing that guy who did the DE race from Morrowind doing my lines. But then again, I'm not hunched over in the shower crying my eyes out without it.

Just read the responses out loud. You have lips; let them flap.

No, but I do wish our characters at least emoted a little in third person every now and then instead of staring off into space.

I prefer it if they are NOT voiced, I may imagine different voices for my character than what the game provides. So, No.

IMO, adding a voiced character was a good improvement for Dragon Age 2.

Having the dialogue options responses could work in Skyrim. And there actually aren't that many.

This games dialog responses is nothing more than basic sentences and phrases. Your character's connection to the word and its people is too... um... 'gamey.' A voiced PC would add nothing to this game.

Im not saying Im against the idea... Its just the TES would have to make some changes in both design and writing.

No, dear God, no. This is my character, I don't want her to speak with a stranger's voice.
IMHO voiced protagonist is good only for linear games where you don't create your own character.
