How many books contain quests?

I tried at the start of the game for a day I think then got bored. I just scan for the books that when you open them they level you up.but that's all.

What was it called?

I love the book in these games, they are all so interesting. I love catching up on the lore and rereading the old books.

Is any house in Skyrim have enough bookshelves to store all 300 books? I want to have a freaking library and yes I read the books. I actually want to make a mod that delays the level up notices and quest marker additions you get from reading books to help force actual reading instead of prying open a book and seeing if you level up instantly.

Some books are worth a lot of money...

Has anyone found more than 2 books that contain quests?

I used to, but then I realized UESP has them all in plain text, so I can just read them on my smartphone whenever I'm out or not actually playing the game. Gives me more time to, you know, play the game

But next week is Christmas break, so I'll definitely take the game a lot more slowly and soak all the detail in; maybe dinners (in game) with a good book or two?

At any rate, I'm definitely going to start playing the game as more of a "real" game now.

Lost Legends and Boethia's Calling so far.

I always read at least 1 book a day at home, but I skip most of them because I've already read them in earlier games.

of course i read the books provided there title interests me i especially enjoy reading books pertaining to the dwemer.

Yep. I don't read a bunch in one sitting since that's pretty unrealistic. I will read one or two before hitting the hey each night, though.

I wish I read them all, but it becomes so tedious. There are so many other activities I'd rather pursue, but I know the lore is important, so I try to at least read a few every now and then. Typically I'll scroll through the book first and if it's more than like 4-5 pages I'll toss it, otherwise I ready it, lol.

I have to read them immediately, although I tell myself to save them for a nice night in front of the fire, but if I do that I'll just end up tossing them for some more loot when I start hitting my encumbrance limit.

My first 2 characters were big, dumb Nord fighters, both could care less about books. :rolleyes: :confused: Anything longer than a bounty letter, and they'd get all ADD. With my newest character, a Cleric female who's supposed to be well-read and a magic-user, she sometimes does read books when she has the time.

When she does read, she usually does so in a safe, well-lighted location.

Are there many new ones? (Not carry-overs from the previous games); and if so, are they good?

yeah I do, collect some here and their, then I go to town and rent a room and read them.

Both my Oblivion and Skyrim characters love to collect books, and will wait to peruse them comfortably by the fire at home. Two books in Skyrim I have enjoyed include "The Oblivion Crisis", and "The Dark Arts on Trial", by Hannibal Traven. Very good retrospectives that would provide all the background a new mage in Skyrim would need, if they never played Oblivion.

Oh god yes. As a university English major I have a vast appreciation for whoever writes The Elder Scrolls' books because they're not only highly entertaining but also very skillfully written. I don't find even half of the errors and oversights that permeate the literature in, and about, various other games (such as Blizzard: an amazing company with wonderfully imaginative lore, but sometimes...some of the funny things I stumble upon). Also, some of the most important aspects of writing are the structure and flow of the work, and I find that these subtle attributes are well managed in this series.

Technical stuff aside, many of the books in TES are just plain brilliant. I was hooked on these stories after first discovering Withershins, way back in Morrowind, and it has remained my favorite to this day. Such a hilarious and well executed concept, and I highly recommend reading it if you haven't yet!

Forgot to mention I always read the books immediately after picking them up, no matter where I've found them.

I've ready many books in past Elder Scrolls games, or on the Imperial Library, so many I skip over. I read every journal and quest related book, and any Skyrim-exclusive books I come across.

I always quickly open in site to see if skill book...then i take them home ...then when im having a nice"smoke" myself i sit and read them as then im playing skyrim but not playing it! at same time and can enjoy my smoke without having to fight or explore :read:
