Crazy question I know, though I still play Skyrim on PS3. I also have the Legendary Edition for PC, but I'd need a better laptop to run mods properly.

If I didn't have it on PC then yea, I still might. I first brought it on 360 and had close to 200 hours in it, which is a lot for me since I'm a busy kind of youngster.
My online buddy also plays it on PS3- but with all the DLC so....not exactly vanilla but eh, close enough?
Lol, alright, alright, so I too have all the DLC on PS3, though it's still technically the vanilla version since it's on PS3 right?
Yes, DLC is still considered vanilla, because in terms of games like TES anything the devs do is part of the standard game, while mods are what is considered non-vanilla.
And of course people still play the vanilla game.
Yep. I have all the games on my laptop, but I just prefer the convenience of console gaming. It's nice being able to kick back with a controller and my tv. I think I'd play more of my modded games if I had an actual desktop, but seeing as I only have my laptop, it's just more comfortable to play on consoles. I do mess around on PC, just not nearly as often compared to the times that I just use the PS3 or Xbox.
Sure some play vanilla, although I can't understand why any PC player would willingly do so (console players have no choice). The sheer amount of bugs boggles the mind and makes the use of the unofficial patch mandatory. Also the UI is abysmal, making SkyUI mandatory.
You do realize you can do that with PC too?
I still play vanilla Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. I like the games as made by the creators and with what technology they had at the time except maybe for the unofficial patches for Skyrim that i still have installed. Fancy graphics, hentai, bouncy boobs/butts, convenient placed vendors/services all that are out of my needs. Just give me the original work and i'm fine.
I used to think just like you, but just because your laptop is not build for gaming or is old, it doesn't mean you can't mod your game.
I kept vanilla Skyrim for over 3 years because i always though that my pc is too weak to handle mods.
In January i've run a general maintenance for my pc (this means back-up on DVDs everything i had and a full system format) and i installed Skyrim again. With this occasion i wanted to start a new character and leave my old saves on DVD, so i installed Live Another Life by Arthmoor and his team, to try something different. Later it turned out that a heavy scripted mod like this doesn't go along with limited RAM, so i ditched this one and tried other mods like USLEEP, Run for your lives, When vampires attack, developed by the same team.
Of course you need to do some research before you jump into modding like choosing a mod manager, installing SKSE, reading tutorials...
Then i turned my attention to the graphics. I tried some "performance" ENB presets, but my PC can;t run anything near that, then CoT, but it had a big impact on my FPS. Still, i didn't gave up and looked for an alternative. I found Pure Weathers by Laast (now it's part of Purity mod). I tested it in different locations and i was surprised to see no FPS drops and sometimes even a small FPS boost from vanilla Skyrim.
I tried many mods that were too much for my PC, but i didn't gave up and kept looking for alternatives. Like DynDOLOD - even with the static mashes, my pc can't run Skyrim at all. It took me a while to find an alternative (Detailed Terrain and Tree LoD by Rennn).
If you decide to try some mods, don;t give up if something doesn't fit on your laptop, keep looking for alternatives.
http://s9.postimg.org/f0gjwkhin/Untitled.png are the mods i have so far, but i'm still looking for more.
My PC: Intel Core2Duo @6300 1.86GHz, 1GB DDR2 800MHz, ATI Radeon HD 4550.
Don't give up.
I played vanilla Skyrim until January of this year when I got a pc. I'll never play it vanilla again, but lots of people still do.
I haven't played a pure vanilla Skyrim since 2012 and I don't think I could at this point, I'm too far down the rabbit hole to ever go back.
Til April of last year I played a vanilla game on 360, that's when I got my PC and...well there are mod's I would not do without now.
I am forced to play on PS3 right now,my PC burned itself down a couple of months ago and I have had to wait on the good old IRS to send me my refund before I can order a new one....should happen next week...(so excited)... but after playing a modded Skyrim for only a couple of months before the crash I hated going back to "vanilla",there is just no comparison to a modded game. I absolutely love some of the mods out there,The Alternate Start,Cutting Room Floor,Immersive Armor and Better Bows just to name a few, I can't wait to get back to the mods.
Of course. And I did dabble with having it connected to my tv via hdmi but I was having issues getting the audio to play through my tv's speakers, so I gave up fairly quickly. I enjoy the base games well enough, and there's content that after all these years I stll haven't gotten to, so I'm not too worried about playing long modded playthroughs yet.
I haven't completely ignored my modded games either, I've got a decent chunk of hours invested in Skyrim (which I've modded fairly intensively) and then some in Morrowind. But like I said, I still have stuff to do in the vanilla games. I've never even finished the MQ in Morrowind. So I'm just taking my time, playing on console, and messing around on PC from time to time. It's just how I choose to enjoy the games, and it works for me. Plus, most of the other games I play are on console, so it's more convenient this way.
I have not played for some time, But usually on the PC I either play Vanilla or very much close to it usually I might add some hunting mods, camping mods, or mods that I feel that might work with the character I plan on playing with. I prefer the original UI to SkyUI but I might still need it for some mods due to MCM. There is SkyUI away which disables most of the SkyUI features but not all of it.
Some of the mods you listed are fantastic that's for sure. Frostfall is very immersive but in the end i can immerse myself with what the developers gave me. Going for a good meal after a long journey, a good nigh sleep until dawn and an apple for breakfast. Little things like these are enough to connect me with the world. SkyUi is the only mod i somehow miss and probably i will have to install again in the future. What can i say? I'm a simple man.
