Does anyone think Dark Brotherhood look silly in skyrim?

The first time I saw the DB armor on the Dark Elf that gets displayed on one of the loading screens... I said, "Oh, look... Studded Pajamas."

I guess I must be in the minority, but I really like the DB 'uniform' and I loved the storyline.

I think the one thing missing would have been some sort of penalty for wearing it in the daylight or in cities. It seems a little odd that I can walk the streets dressed as a hired assassin. Not to mention the fact that people remember who I am even though I have my cowl on.... but that's another issue.

On the subject of guild outfits, what I don't understand is how people go on about how impractical the DB outfit is, but they don't mention the Nightingale armor. How practical is a cape? Am I 'Batman of Skyrim'? I found the whole Nightingale saga more like the Super Friends, complete with each of the original members having their own unique (thief) powers.

In the end, you just have to feel sorry for the people of Skyrim - you've managed to restore the two darkest guilds.

I usually wear regular town clothes when I walk in, then I find a place to change, then I very carefully carry out my mission,
before I storm off in my DB armor, that way, everyone knows the dark brotherhood did it, its called brand recognition :P

ok kool thanks for that ive played fallout 3 awesome game.

Yeah Fallout 3 was amazing. I am surprised at how much a lot of people in TES fan-base hates the game, personally I loved the game and it was what got me to try out Oblivion and get into the TES.

I guess because everyone whom I heard on the matter said it was horrible. Maybe I just happened to find the wrong people.

I don't hate it, I just don't like it.

A bit too depressing for me.

I agree. I only wear the Cowl of the Brotherhood, the other armor parts are from the Nightingale Armor. It looks good, actually.

But I wasn't just disappointed with their looks, also their general attitude. The tenets were gone, the traditions were gone, I totally disliked Astrid and it was all just very disappointing for me. The Thieves Guild seems a ton better in Skyrim. :I

Nobody forces you to use DB armor.

Personally I think it fits the whole jester/acrobat vibe.

It looks awefull, one of the biggest dissapointemnt of skyrim. It should be on of the most bad-ass outfits in the game and so far its the worst i have seen.

Yeah, the DB armour make my Dark Elf look queer. Looks like he visits those establishments with wips and other bondage stuff. :batman:

The Dark Brotherhood chooses black, skin tight and flexible gear because it makes it easier to move and easier to hide in the shadows.

It probably acts like a poor water suit as well, which allows them to last a little bit longer in the freezing waters of Skyrim without freezing to death.

They don't care about protection, because they're never supposed to get hit anyway.

They don't care about being obvious, because when they're wearing an assassin suit in the first place, they're obviously not going to try to mingle with the crowd. They are supposed to sneak in the night and not be seen in the first place.

I'm sure each and every member of the Dark Brotherhood probably have a set of common spare clothes to put on if they want to mingle with the crowd.

But... I agree, the armor, despite it's practical uses, looks silly. I never understood the red colours :)

I think in oblivion the dark brotherhood was a really dark and twisted group of merciless thugs and the quests/twists were surprisingly awesome and memorable. but in skyrim it's the thieves guild stealing the show for having the best questlines and rewards in my opinion (pun intended). DB was a bit lame and predictable at times.

Seeing as it's leather, any notion of it being good for freedom of movement is misplaced. Loose fitting comfortable clothing would be better.

The DB outfits are fine. They fit the Theme of Skyrim.
The ladies look extremely nice in them and the guys look like stealth ninjas. :ninja:
My character wears his DB outfit everywhere.
"To me its a SuperHero outfit". And nobody else in skyrim has this look.
"your an assassin". The outfit compliments while dual wielding swords or daggers, and Archery..
"I guess you have to role play the outfit.
sneak around in it..(It feels right)....."
My character is a male Redguard. and glad I have Nazir with me at the DB Hide-Out.
"After every contract killing we celebrate with the little white vampire kid by making Graqe Soda and Fried Chicken, and after enough Mead and Wine we throw the chicken bones at the dummies in the torture chamber"...

The dark brotherhood armor would look fine if you made your character look like michael jackson.

He wore something similar in one of his videos.

.. and just like the song and his outfit, the DB outfits in Skyrim are bad, bad, really really bad :)

The only thing that bugged me is that they changed it from purple and black to red and black. Considering they are assassins, I think having bright colors like red on their outfits just makes it hard to take them seriously. >.<

So...we have a skin tight, partially red suit that's supposed to be stealthy.

A black and red robe that basicly screams "HAY GUYS IM WITH TEH DB"

And a jester outfit.

The Dark Brotherhood, now that their existence is common knowledge, even to small children, decided that their best defence was to distract from the high level assassins through the creation of a sub-guild unaware of the true rulers of the brotherhood.

The sub-guild was charged with the creation of obvious guild houses outside of cities, and the employment of common thugs to the brotherhood, who would gleefully don "I'm an evil assassin" clothes.

The real dark brotherhood set themselves up with the facade of the Bards Guild, wearing regular clothes, refined tastes, and an ability to enter the houses of the nobleman and commoner equally and without suspicion.

Thus the elite assassins created a throwaway sub-set whom could be exterminated without any real damage to the true brotherhood.

Nice spoiler... thanks for ruining it for me..
