Does anyone think Dark Brotherhood look silly in skyrim?

Nice spoiler... thanks for ruining it for me..

That's more lore than the actual in game story I believe. The DB is on its last leg with skyrim's charter being very rag tag, thrown together, last little resistance. I am not surprised that their armor is obvious, they shouldn't be wearing it in the open, stealth in, costume change, whatever you need to do. If, and it is a big if, they leave any witnesses, they want people to know it was them, and I figure people do know anyways. But Ah my main question was, why the hell is the armor bonus on the chest piece 50-100% poison resistance? Why would an assassin be poisoned? I'm the one doing the poisoning. Where do you even take poison damage? I usually wear the thieves guild chest for the carry bonus, haven't gotten all the way through yet.

the blood red highlights really bring them into "high camp" territory.

really, i cant take the DB seriously as a guild. OB pushed the bounds of a "serious" assassins guild. but skyrim is a full on parody. the armor is so horribly impractical, the people do nothing but make puns and dead baby jokes... and really, a crazy jester and child assassin? there is no way the DB was made for anything but irony.

Yup. I always thought the Dark Brotherhood was silly. Even their name is cheesy.
I only liked them in Morrowind because they were out to kill me. That made them seem far more threatening.

I think they should of based it more of the Nightingale Armour. The cowl on Nightingale is so nice.

I think the necromancer robes are more DB esque than anything the guild in skyrim has to offer

Armor looks fine although I do prefer Oblivion's Purple look.

I feel like most thief and assassin armor is pretty "on the nose"...

It feels on my thieves and assassins since morrowind I usually wear regular clothes with enchants on them. The only time I wear legit thief or assassin armor is when I'm sneaking into a city where I have a high bounty, and being seen at all is a potential death.

as several ppl have posted above, the Nightingale suit is really nice (imo apart from the half-lenght cape wich is kinda corny) but i want to point out to you guys another really on the money suit: the thieves guild officers version suit. To me it does it well, i have in fact finished the quests and am their boss but i didn't get one, still have the brown suit, any idea if it becomes available? it would be a nice addition to my extensive collection :P

A set of dark toned mage apprentice robes and hood along with some black leather gauntlets and boots... much like the ones from the nightengale armor... hmmm do I sense a mod comming up? I hope so and I hope that Beth takes the hint and puts it into a DLC as extra armor for some more quests to bring the DBH back to full strength.

My char always wears mage apprentice robes and hood with nightengale gloves and boots. it looks bad ass when walking through the city at night slowly strolling towards my victims house. The only other armor I wear is the rest of the nightengale armor, but I wish they didn't have a cape on them.

i miss the dark robes of oblivion, sure they were probably impractical for an assassin but they looked cool.

It definitely looks too tight, silly and gay. Not something my character would ever use. They could've included some type of more bulkier looking heavy armor variant - my nightblade has no problem in sneaking successfully in heavy armor, thanks to specific perks.

I've honestly lost all of the tiny amount of respect I had ever had for the Elder Scrolls fans.

I seriously always thought the Dark Brotherhood was a parody of goth/emo kids which kept me from actually hating them. It's kind of nice when you think about it like that. People who see how ridiculous and "dark" they are just laugh at them and people who take them seriously actually think they're cool. Everyone wins.

Most of you people are missing the point. In Oblivion, there was a Wood Elf who would usually would go outside. Outside, she'd wear normal clothes but only wear her DB uniform while in the hideout. The DB outfits aren't suppose to be worn in public unless you're being stealthy. The robes on the other hand, is a different story; in my opinion, I think the robes are meant to be worn anywhere (In Oblivion, they look pretty much like normal black robes) but the robes in Skyrim basically screams "HAI LUK AT MEH GUIZ IM WIFF DA DAERK BRUVAH00D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

If I could I'd bring back the DB armor from OB and instead of a Little Red Riding hood styled hood, just give them a black mouth cover. The Black Hand Robes need to make a return as well.

I always hated dark brotherhood not only their clothes.

In morrowind I hated missions when I had to kill them, going through those dungeons was so boring, and when they were waking me up I was getting mad too.

In Oblivion I have never encountered them, because I didn't play much oblivion, I got to the city, I've killed all the gladiators in arena and then I got bored and uninstalled the game.

In skyrim I have finished their main quest, but I really didn't like it, dark brotherhood is creepy, I had to assassinate emperor who I really liked, I had to go into a coffin with a talking corpse which I didn't like, and then I had to talk to another burned corpse which I didn't enjoy too. Also this night mother decided to chose me as a listener, so my character will need to listen to her voice for the rest of his life, if I were him, I would rather kill myself than need to listen to her creepy voice.
I'm just not into talking corpses really.

I don't mind the shrouded armour in Skyrim. It sure as hell beats the Nightingale batman outfit.
