Does Anyone Use A Mic?

Post » Wed Sep 01, 2010 11:52 pm

Every match I've been in I'm the only one with a mic. How does anyone expect to be proficient in a teambased game without having good communication?

Also...why is no one working together? It's no wonder so many of you are dogging the game, no one knows how to play a game like this. Every match I play there's no communication, no one helping out each other and everyone running straight to the middle to battle it out. Has anyone ever heard of flanking the enemy? Do none of you know how to throw a little ammo to a teammate? I'm constantly running out of ammo and that should never happen if everyone is sticking together and passing on ammo to those who need it.

Once we spawn in everyone...everyone...follows the same path right to the enemy and tries to see who can kill the most. I travel down side routes and I'm alone because it seems no one knows how to flank. In the escort matches everyone is staying behind the target we are protecting as if he's a shield...you have to stay in front of him to keep him alive! Why are there so many nitwits in this game? Has no one ever played a game where teamplay is the best way? Do none of you understand what it takes to complete objectives?

Once more people actually learn how to play this game it will be SO much better!

Oh ya....BUY A HEADSET.....AND USE IT!

How many human vs AI players are there? Because your describing AI. And by default, you can't hear other players. Little protip right there.

You can't hear other players? Seriously? Why have mics in game then? I don't understand that at all!

I wasn't aware that AI played in online multiplayer matches....that svcks!

Also....they sure have some strange names for AI players!

Well would you rather have a 2v8? It's good for the balance world. And you can go to freeplay and look for a mode that has VoIP set to on, that let's you communicate

No need to have 2v8 in matches. I play many games that don't utilize AI in online play that wait until a Q is full of real players before starting the match...I would rather have that!

me and my friends play with mic on all the time, it is a team based game that needed communication ..and yea...we use the steam voip though .
a mic actually enhance the experience of brink and makes it better. however tried doing it with a stranger in a game..and... :/ not so well...so play with friends with mic is the best way to go

My suggestion is to join a clan, or assemble a group of friends that you can coordinate, communicate, and work as a team with.

Thought with the state of the lobby system (or lack thereof), you won't have much luck getting into a game together.

Wow...I can't get over the fact that they made this game like this! I'm suddenly so completely turned off. I would have never bought the game if I would have known it was designed to have AI in online multiplayer matches. This completely kills the game for me! I'll be trading it tomorrow!

No we'd rather have a system that filled in empty spots with real people like every other online shooter.

As for not having voice chat in every game... just another brilliant thing SD did. This and not having lobbies really optimizes teamwork...... no.

Definitely getting rid of this tomorrow! I can't believe I paid for this garbage! Now I'm gonna take a loss on it...I really shoulda done some research on it. I seriously can't believe they made online multiplay with f*cking bots in place of real players! This is the single worst design flaw I've ever seen in a game that was so highly anticipated! What the Hell were the developers thinking?

I wouldn't even care if it had this as an option but you are forced to play with AI in any match just because there is no decent matchmaking system. It wouldn't even have to be a lobby (although it would be best) but just any sort of matchmaking that put real players against real players...NO F*CKING BOTS! What a turd of a game! I actually liked the gameplay and everything but this one stupid design decision totally kills it for me!

Maybe it's the versus mode. I'm not able to access that.

Could you please tell me which mode it is? And how I can play that? It will mean the difference between keeping the game and getting rid of it.

Go to Freeplay instead of campaign and theres competition or old skool which i think is players only, look in the freeplay section.

Ya...that's where I am. Match settings are: Standard, Advanced, Competition, Old Skool, and Big Teams....all of them have the same options other than the amount of players. Nothing about AI or no AI.

There is something that says versus mode but it's not available to me for some reason.

I do. But i'm a Xbox player and it isn't really rare to see dudes trying to Lone Wolf it. I'll speak if I see anyone else there, but doubt they can here me.

Hit me up sometime if there's any Xbox players looking at this forum. My Gamertag is my forum name.

Ok i was wrong there isn't a mode like that, but, set your thing to "my rank or above" and you should get more people to play with.

Just to confirm, Old Skool is definitely, 100%, without question, bot free.

Pretty sure Competition is too, but haven't played it much, so not 100% on that.

ye i only know one friend who plays brink and i just usually use the mic with him.....when i first got brink i was like "no one has a mic argh!" but the game makes so many announcments that i dont think mic are essential, plus the visual display of objectives is top notch....

I use a mic. Last night my brother and I had a great time taking objectives and backing each other up. There were a few time were I was almost finishing an objective and went under fire, I called for health and my brother ran in buffed my health and it was enough to complete the objective, if I had not asked for it I would have died and need to start again. Its good to talk, as you can help defend/attack or help each other, the bots don't really do that.

The default setting is that you can only hear your Fireteam's VOIP, and Public VOIP is disabled so you cannot hear the rest of your team. Why SD did this? Probably for the same reason why there are no lobbies.

Problems is a lot of servers are on default with the VOIP, Admins need to turn on Team VOIP and Global VOIP so people can talk to each other in game, otherwise you're only able to VOIP with your fireteam.

I am sorry Splash Damage but this game definitely needs people talking to each other on team to win a round a lot of us are not on fireteams and are playing by ourselves with other people, you can follow objectives all you want but it does not help not being able to let other teammates know that there 3 enemies flanking us from the sides trying to attack from behind.
