Does Beth not want us playing as "straight" male cha

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 9:21 am

Thank you for at least being understanding and not attacking me like I was earlier. It's just how I personally feel. I don't have a problem with the other romance options for different types at all. I just think there should be plenty for everyone and all types of romances.

We are still missing Ghoul and Super Mutant. We do have Synth. So it is actually 3 female companions that we can romance.

While i do agree with you, i don't aswell. They made the companions and i don't think they made them with romance in mind. Probably started writing and found a roster with misfits they liked and then romance idea came up because it fits certain characters. This is what good writers does, in my opinion. They write the romance if it fits the character, not the character with romance in mind. So it is uneven and maybe even unfair, but i wouldn't have any other way. Plus the redhead in this game, out of this world.

I'm still scratching my head about the fact that the female ms. handy is romancable but nick valentine is off limits. Shouldn't it be the other way around? Also surprised beth didn't make your stereotypical sixy female android character as a companion/romance option.

The TC may have confused Bethesda with Bioware.

He might learn better how to express it by watching Huckabee.

You are supposed to be mourning/avenging your dead wife, not run around the wasteland looking for flings.

Wrong. It's Bethesda. We're SUPPOSED to roleplay how we want. If I wanted to forget about the revenge quest line, I can. You know, roleplay and all that. We aren't supposed to stick strictly to the story. You must not have done much of it.

Meh. There's three females

Spoiler
the robot does turn into a 'stereotypically sixy female android' via a quest
and four males, one of which is a ghoul, so, um, acquired taste, I guess. It seems pretty even to me. Besides, the male options honestly don't look all that appealing... Nick Valentine is the most interesting companion and he's not romanceable.

Actually there are more romance options in the game from non-companions; found one so-far and there may be more.

You can "romance" more than one woman but afaik only have a "relationship" with two. Can't be too picky in the wasteland my friend. I would like to however alter Caits appearance, shes too skinny.

Well, it is your opinion, but you said in the OP that it bothered you that there aren't a whole lot of malexfemale romance going on so we're just giving you a hard time over it.

Plus, as others said, your character lost his wife, his son and his entire world along with them. He probably isn't in the mood to start fling-flanging it out with the ladies of the Commonwealth.

Yet the female character lost basically the same thing and she can fling-flang with all the dudes she wants. Hmmm...

But still, entirely optional.

What I said in my Op was that I was disappointed that, not counting the "female" robot, there are only two females you can get in a romantic relationship with where there are four men. Just would have liked more offering for a straight male character who is seeking a female. People act like I'm being unreasonable but I don't think I am. I only took a jab at Beth in annoyance because that's how I felt at the time.

As for the people saying that "My character lost his son and his wife and his entire world and that he wouldn't be actively seeking a love interest", I think clearly are the people who don't roleplay in Bethesda games. Owning and making your character who you want him or her to be is the entire point. Beth. has even encouraged us in the past to ignore the main story in its games if we want and imagine who our character really is.

The majority of the people on this forum role play in Bethesda games. For example, ignoring the amulet in your inventory and the main quest in Oblivion, or pretending you aren't Dragonborn in Skyrim. To say that my character in Fallout 4 wouldn't be interested in romance because of the "story" is an incredibly weak argument when Beth. games entire concept completely revolves around making your own story.

If people want to ignore the events of the beginning of Fallout 4, then they should. So the "but it doesn't make sense to the story" argument doesn't hold water.

I'm annoyed that aside from the female robot there are only two female romance options, when there are four men. As I mentioned in my just now above post, I would have liked a bit more for a straight male character seeking a female. I took a jab at Beth because it was how I was feeling at the time.

I don't see the problem here. Everyone gets multiple choices, that's really all that Bethesda should do in regard to this. If 2 isn't enough, then how about 3? Still no? Then 4? Where does it stop? Do they need to create an even amount of males and females? There's just no pleasing everyone, so instead they created their companions and decided which ones would be romanceable and this is what we ended up with. There are three female characters and four male characters that can be romanced. You've got multiple choices if you are looking for a female (still multiple if you want it to be a female human). Seems fair to me.

There's a third option with Currie.

She gets uploaded into a synth robot body.

Post apocalyptic six doll? I have not met the "lady" in question yet but hopefully she looks better than these weird looking Japanese "companions" with creepy eyes.

Would prefer more. It's ironic that several times before the game came out and before we knew about the rest of the companions I stated I would like to find a female raider and help her clean up her drug habit and romance her. And then we actually got

Cait
. I'm like damn, that's exactly what I wanted.

Are Bethesda evil mustache twirling villains who want to force you to be a gay man, or worse: a woman? Or did they design the characters for story reasons first and foremost rather than designing a bunch of sixual partners? You realize the "romance" aspect of this game is about as deep as in Skyrim right? There's no epic love story and there's no raunchy Witcher style nvde/six scenes.
