Does Beth not want us playing as "straight" male cha

Post » Sun Nov 29, 2015 7:00 am

Not counting the robot, there are only two female romance options and four make romances. I'm sure as hell not going to romance any of the males so this bothers me a bit that there aren't more female romance options. Seems like Beth is hung up on forcing people away from "traditional" boy, girl romance.

I think it's just them caving in to the few randoms who keep raging and want to romance the same six or robots or animals or supermutants...I thinks it's a waste of time, would've put more time into something else in the the game most people would enjoy. They don't want to seem biased though, and it adds variety...

You do realize your male character had a wife who he had six with at least once, right?

That means if anything, they forced you into the role of a straight character in the beginning.

Well the title says straight MALE so I'm assuming the OP meant they want you to play as a straight FEMALE if anything.

Most likely due to the pre-set background of married/kid and most of the companions being male.

I shouldn't say it feels like they are trying to force away traditional boy/girl romance as there are plenty for a female player character, but I feel like I'm being told I'm wrong to play as a male seeking a female character.

Well I guess you could also include bisixual male and female characters as well.

Basically homosixual players are the only ones left out.

Two isn't enough? How many you need?

I wonder who the other one is ... well, don't tell me. I'll find her.

I'll tell you anyway because it's hilariously ridiculous. You know that robot that Codsworth is? I forgot what those types of robots are called. Anyway the third female you can romance is a female version of the robot Codsworth is. Yep you can romance a floating robot ball with buzz saws and eye cameras.

Well I romance Piper so I guess not. I wouldn't mind more female companions but this isn't a big deal.

Until... 2011?... in every game featuring romance content I had a single "choice," if I was lucky, to be able to play to my own sixuality. If I didn't like that choice, tough luck. I either gritted my teeth and romanced her anyway or I played a male character.

Straight guys have been pandered and catered to by video games for literally decades. Now a game comes along and starts you off in an embarrassing portrait of 1950s heteronormativity and later deigns only to give you two women to romance, and this somehow warrants a forum thread to complain about how you're not getting enough?

Grow up.

Its not a huge problem, but I wouldve liked more female options, even if they were just romancable and couldnt actually be a companion.

How about you don't come on here and attack me for my opinion? I wasn't putting down the other romances at all I support then. I was just wanting equality. It is a legitimate thread and I am grown up? Who really needs to grow up if you come on here looking to start something by attacking me.

I think the point is to create a son who is kidnapped for the hero to follow. Works for me. I'm not gay and I have no interest in promoting any sixual rights. I do like a good game, though, and the only way for a son to be born for the hero to find is via male/female relationship. If anyone is offended by this, figure out a better way and suggest it to the powers that be.

That doesn't even cover the 3 major food groups - Blonde, Brunette & Redhead.

Not necessarily. The style of Fallout is from the 1950s. The technology and fashion looks like it is inspired from the 1950s. It is likely that the values are inspired from the 1950s as well. A gay person could have been married to their spouse so that they don't suffer from discrimination. So every Friday night, the wife lets the husband have a guy's night out. One of the perks of civilization being destroyed is that various rules that govern our lives no longer exist. Who cares what happens in a person's bedroom when everyone is trying to survive in a lawless world.

Is there a gay romance? They only thing I've run across was listening to a settler talk to another about losing his husband/boyfriend. That's about hit.

It reads like the OP isn't happy with the choices for the "straight" male. And I can understand that (and I agree with him. I don't like the choices either). This is a perfect place for a mod. Probably gonna have to wait.

One other thing, is there a house of ill-repute? I seem to remember bedding a female ghoul in FO3. And I know in NV they were there. You'd think - I mean, when things get bad, many resort to the worlds oldest profession - gay or straight.

A BoS doctor did ask me if I had relations with non-humans (he wasn't so kind in his words). Of course, I couldn't respond "if it walks and talks - hell yeah!". So I played along with being shocked at the question.

An Obsidan Dev explained in an interview that Homosixuality is no longer an issue. People don't care who you screw, or what gender you fancy, because you have more issues to worry about.

I take it the Lone Survior is pansixual, or bisixual.
