I also hope they've listened to the community's issues with Oblivion, primarily regarding:
- The overly transparent leveling system (if they go with something like they did in Fallout 3 I think it should be fine for the most part).
- The removal of certain weapons, which honestly wasn't too surprising given the new physics system. Hopefully now that they've had a bit more experience they can try and re-implement things like spears and throwing stars.
- Speaking of physics, stuff shouldn't be flying off a table just from the player lightly bumping into it. lol
- A need for more varied and imaginative environments-Oblivion was very pretty but everything started to blur together after awhile.
- A less cliche fantasy plot where the player is actually actively involved in the "final battle".
- More customizable armor and clothing. Perhaps even the ability to "save an outfit" and quickly switch between them-allowing for more in-depth role playing, for instance wearing clothing in towns and armor out in the world and of course in dungeons.
- It should feel a little (or even a lot) less "dumbed down for console gamers".
If there's a new engine involved it'd be awesome if it provided seamless transitions from world map -> towns and even exteriors -> interiors. It'd be totally awesome to have a huge nearly seamless world with little to no loading times. I think that's partly a memory issue but it could be potentially overcome by programing the engine to load up the environment "in real time" as the player is moving around. I'm still not sure that's entirely possible, especially for consoles which have significantly less RAM (perhaps some loading times for consoles and low RAM computers but reduced or even removed for computers with more RAM?). It'd be awesome if it's possible and its just something I'd personally like to see a game like TES try to do.
If they've been listening to the community then they've probably heard all the things I mentioned in the list before and I hope they've been taking that all into consideration when developing Skyrim.
