Does BRINK have a pre-order bonus?

Post » Tue May 17, 2011 9:39 am

yeah, that's definitely the non-preorder revolver.

I personally suspect that the Hocker and Caesar may be reskins of those two guns anyway

Nope, they've been confirmed to be actual unique weapons. They're balanced in that they provide a new way to play, but they offer no net advantage over other guns.

Really? i havent heard hide nor hair of any confirmation on that. Any chance you have a source?

All i have heard is the devs say they have no plans of re-releasing the pre-order packs later.

Pyscho pack FTW -- I'm going to scare you all like little girls with my awesome mask.

Yea, but basically everyone's who's pre-ordering will get that pack. Way to jump on the bandwagon.

PS. Yea I know I sounded like a jerk, but I'm just saying that everyone basically will be getting it because it looks "cool" or "bad-ass."

They are definitely new, unique weapons, considering they have different names. They'll likely behave similarly to other games, maybe even identically. But there seems to be something different between the reskins included in the DOOM and Fallout packs, and the weapons and attachments (note the phrasing) included in the Spec-Ops and Psycho packs. They may turn out to be functional reskins, but it seems clear to me that they won't be straight out reskins, considering they have different names and are listed as separate weapons. That's my take, anyway.

...everyone basically will be getting it [Pyscho pack] because it looks "cool" or "bad-ass."

I got it because it was ten dollars cheaper, actually. I like the Spec-Ops pack better, personally. :)

Actually, the poll to end all polls says that spec-ops is the most common. Psycho is the only other option if you want a "unique weapon"

I've considered that as well, but i still think theres a possibility that calling them unique is a selling tactic

Well still, those two seem like the packs that almost everyone wants.

Well yeah, that's obviously going to happen considering how much more they're offering

skins < unique weapons

something for only 1 faction < something for both factions
Well that's how I see it, plus the "Unique" guns don't really make a diffence since they're balanced with all the other guns.

True, though I imagine a lot of people are going into this game with the impression that they'll only be playing as one class anyway.

This is a tough choice. I can't get fallout now b/c anytime i get killed with one of those exclusive pistols i'll be mad because i can't use it. Especially if only 2 pistols ship with the game. I'm leaning towards psycho for the wep and silencer. Can security use the revolver or only the machine pistol?

Only the security can use the spec ops SMG.

so does the caesar have an alt skin for security? seems like it'd be out of place amongst all of those shiny new guns :spotted owl:

So the Security can use that rusty old revolver from the Psycho pack? Doesn't seem like it would fit in at all. Also, I know there are no faction specific guns, I was talking about the packs if you didn't know.

I'd be pretty surprised if you couldn't, I haven't seen too many games that limit DLC codes

AHA!

also, for bonus points:

Edit: i just realized that the badman quote sorta confirms that the two are real guns, as a skin wouldn't be available for both factions.

Very very interesting. I might actually be able to stomach getting the fallout set now. I don't generally like the slow fire of revolvers, and i think the machine pistol will have too short of a range for what i'm looking for. Machine pistol is equipped as SMG right? Tough choices.

The Hockler machine pistol is presumed to be...a machine pistol. So a light secondary weapon, like the other machine pistol in the game.

Nice links, Shadowcat.

Yeah, both guns will usable by both sides, presumably with different skins per side. And there are more than two standard pistols shipping with the game (someone mentioned concern on the previous page), there are in fact five pistols in the game, plus the pre-order ones. It looks like there will be three semi-auto pistols, one automatic pistol, and one revolver. Furthermore there will be non-preorder silencers (at least one) and sights (three different red dots and an ACOG-type, among others) so the pre-order weapons/attachments shouldn't give an unfair advantage. Hopefully.

On 3rd thought, i'll prob get the spec ops set. The only thing i really like about the Fallout set is the blue 101 shirt. And i know i'll be changing my outfit a couple times, so i don't want to be limited in feeling like i have to equip the main attraction of my preorder. Also i think there will be other fallout tattoo's, and maybe accessories (the fallout preorder shows an exclusive tattoo, but he has several other tattoo's referencing FO) Unless anyone knows if they're all exclusive?

Well I'm going for the Spec Ops, now that I know a local store WILL be providing it. Finally managed to get in touch with someone who knows what I'm talking about. Guess where I'm shopping (hint: It's the only store that seems to have any respect for customer queries)
