Post » Tue May 17, 2011 11:44 am

There's a whole bunch, depending where you order.

Pretty sure there's info about the options floating around in a few places.

Unfortunately, it's hard to find info about NZ pre-order bonuses (where I live), and I'm yet to confirm if ANYONE will be getting the Spec Ops pack (which I want) in the country.

I know if you preorder from Steam and Walmart you get the Spec-Ops kit, but that's all I know.

Hells yeah. I'll preorder mine from best buy and get the "Fallout" set. I love the Vault 101 secutiry shirt for said security. Even though some of the other sets get exclusive guns, which is kinda lame. Oh well, there are plenty of other guns, and i'm sure they'll relese them as DLC later on.

You might also want to check Direct2Drive, they had a sale last weekend, 20% of everything. It was supposed to end that weekend, but I heard someone saying it was still up for some reason. Haven't confirmed myself, but it can't hurt to look!

I feel that the Steam bonus is kinda lame, I don't like the gun too much, I mean, why not give me a sub-machine gun or something? I don't want a dinky pistol. Oh well, it looks cool at least. I shouldn't have an opinion on it until I use it.

I disagree. A machine pistol is more useful to a light than another SMG, plus since it's a sidearm it stands less chance of grossly imbalancing the game, and such. Spec-Ops looks like the most interesting and useful pack to me.

Afaik, the MP7 (Hockler SMG) IS a SMG in the game. Just like the MP9 (Tampa SMG).

No sir, Splash Damage has said there are no plans for releasing them afterwards.

It's not just a dinky pistol, It's a machine pistol.

The MP7 is an SMG, but for BRINK, it's a Machine Pistol, meaning it can be a sidearm even for Lights.

For clarification, a Machine Pistol is a pistol but bigger and automatic. An SMG is a machine gun but smaller and easier to handle. However, that generally amounts to the same thing, so there's just about no difference between them.

The MP7 is far from "Dinky" lol.

Check it:

The In-game name is actually a nod to one of the weapon's desginers Heckler (game name, Hockler). Other designer is Koch. I wants one!!!

According to the brink wiki:
If you live in Australia if you go to EB Games you get the doom pack.
If you go to JB Hi-Fi you get the psycho pack.
If you go to GAME you get the fallout pack.
If you go to Harvy Norman's you get the spec-ops pack

And even though the MP7 is named the Machine Pistol 7 IRL, it is in fact classified as a PDW and more powerful than SMGs.

So its going to be more powerful in the game than SMGs or is that referance to the Real World weapon?

sorry, I put IRL in there meaning "in real life", but it was probably a poor decision to put an acronym right after a gun name.

The fact that they spelled out "machine pistol" in the name means thats most likely what it is in game, but if they wanted to make the gun closer to realistic, they would make it an smg. The problem with putting PDWs in games that have gun types is that they usually fall between "SMG" and "Pistol"

So, in short, no one has any idea where the preorder guns fit into thegame, or if they are even unique guns instead of just reskins.

I posted this over in the Steam forums, but I'll repost it. Regarding pre-order weapons:

It looks like there will be one non-preoreder revolver and at least one (probably only one) non-preorder automatic pistol. According to http://www.gamesas.com/index.php?/topic/1173072-brink-weapon-derivitives/, it looks like the automatic pistol and the revolver will be based on these two real-world guns: http://www.fsdip.com/website/VBRBelgiumHome/English/ThePDW792VBRBCompact/tabid/190/Default.aspx and http://www.deactivated-guns.co.uk/detail/Dan_wesson.htm.

Both look pretty nice, and it shouldn't have too much effect if you missed out on one or both of the pre-orders with weapons. And now those of us who did get one of them can enjoy our weapons guilt free too. :)

EDIT: Fixed the mistake that was pointed out below. Yay.

I would like to point out that H0RSE actually took that info from my thread, not the other way around =P

Oh, my bad! Nice work. :)

By the way, where did you get your info? Because there weren't pics of those two guns I mentioned. How do you know they're in the game? Thanks.

about 3:07 on the cinematic trailer, you get a good look at it. The Dan Wesson PPC isnt quite a match, but its one of the few slab sided revolvers i could find that looked close.

Ah, cool.

Also, do you think that's it in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oFtDU3aMVOQ at 0:39 and again at 0:50? It looks too long to be the Caesar, which you can see at 0:14. Anyway, my main concern is that the pre-order exclusive guns don't give an in-game advantage, so as long as there's another revolver and automatic pistol (which it looks like there are) I'm happy. :)
