Does everyone have to wear backpacks?

Post » Wed Aug 18, 2010 9:12 pm

It seems that in all the gameplay videos I have seen, all the characters are wearing a backpack of some kind. I really hope that the backpack is an option and that not everybody has to wear it.

I assume they do. They had videos of customization up, backpacks were not listed. So I assume everyone gets a different one based on their class.

Everyone has to wear it

One of the three ways to know what class your friend is playing as

- His backpack is different depending on his class
- His gloves are differerent depending on his class
- And I believe you can just aim at him to see his class symbol

But for quick identification the backpacks help - and they look nice, I think the characters look even better with the packs on

Also: Both factions have different backpacks

How else would you hold a satchel charge, molotovs, grenades, two guns, ammo boxes, and magazines for your weapons?

Yeah, thankfully the backpacks are subtle - they're not obnoxious or ugly.

It kind of svcks. I wanted my character to be completely shirtless. I don't care about the realism of where my ammo is stored.

Oh well, it shouldn't bother me too much.

Duke Nukem will help me on this, Duke?

''Blow it our your ass''

Thank you

You could hide everything up your ass

EDIT: ''ammo so smelly'' and all that weird stuff, don't think I would like to be revived or healed by a syringe from friendly medics..

While I like the backpacks, arguments for realism are somewhat futile in this game lol.

You haven't seen any of the videos? :P

They are backpacks, as in bags sitting on your back, they're not small and placed on the tramp-stamp section of your back :P

It would have similar game play to the last part of MW2 with pulling the knife out of your chest: screen shakes, goes bloodshot, vision blurs and all of a sudden stuff comes spraying out and you save the day (or your friend). You may have made a new friend but your colon will never speak to you again.

No I've seen the videos, I've just never paid attention to the back packs... and why can't I look like I'm an extra from Weird Al's "Whte and Nerdy"?

If I ever went to War, I wouldn't use a backpack. I would just pull everything out my pants <_<

Well, they're there, so.. I guess I kinda ruined it for you now, didn't I? :l

Now you'll never see them the same way again

But just try to not pay attention to them if you don't like them

Yeah, you could totally fit those MG parts along with the ammunition in your pockets :P

shush with that logic. in (insert fps here) I can hold 36 guns a quarter million rounds of ammo 28 grenades 352 key items and a walkie talkie, all in my hip satchel.

You ever try to hop over a fence with holding all those things? I have. Well not all those things but sidearm, primary, vest and its hard. A backpack is much easier.

It's pretty unrealistic to think of people just having all their gear in their pockets, soldiers have huge amounts of vest space, pocket space, and bags on them to carry their gear. Now this game isn't about realism, but it certainlly makes the fake world believable when people are actually taking their PDA's and supplies from their backpacks instead of just putting their hand behind their back and having the stuff come out of their spine (especially large things like rocket launchers and such).

I really wish you could customize their color and have the packs be different between classes to distinguish but whatever.
