I don't, but i don't have a high-end system, so i fight for every frame i can get.

I use it but I'm hardly everyone. If you have a machine that can handle it there's really no reason not to use it, in my opinion.

I used to, but with my other mods my VRAM usage was over 600mb.

As said before if your system can handle it, I don't see why you wouldn't. I use it.

No, it is too expensive, VRAM-wise, for many. Plus, there are other world texture replacers out there (that don't require special meshes) and suit some people's tastes better. Now that I've used it for a few years, the game feels weird without it. :?

I have a GeForce 9400 GT 1 Gig VRAM, could I run it ? Also, if you don't mind me hijacking my own thread, is there a mod that makes trap deadlier ?

I'm not entirely sure if you can run QTP3.... But AmpolX's texture packs are better. ATP is the abbreviation. It's a fairly new one too.
It has about the same performance hit as QTP3R.

I think most people run QTP3Redmized, and there is also a mesh optimization available for the mod that helps considerably. 1Gb of VRAM is plenty for QTP3R. I'm a longtime QTP3R user, but I suggest looking at http://www.tesnexus.com/modules/members/index.php?id=1394013. I want to try out some of his as well.

You don't have to worry on the graphics memory end of things for a while.

1GB is borderline if you intend to use more than just a world texture replacer. QTP3 Redimized may be nicely compacted, but throw in trees, plants, clothing, armor, and you'll push that 1GB pretty quickly. This isn't going to change at all if you go with ATP either, although ATP has the advantage of not needing meshes to go with it, at the cost of not making more use of the parallax shader.

I don't use QTP3R because the screenshots looked worse to me than the vanilla textures. I think I'm in the minority in that regard though.

Even though I can run it on my rig, and used it, I can live well enough without high-res textures, and not using it leaves me with a few less GB cluttering up my Data folder. In general I'm not bothering with visual enhancing mods anymore, I don't even use any body replacer (though I use enhanced textures for the faces, but that's likely the only exception), I prefer the mods that add new stuff.

Hmmm...I haven't seen my VRAM over 1GB and I use many graphics enhancing mods. I don't use any of the visible when distant mods though.

Redimized and Reduced for me. I just prefer the design more than the Vanilla textures, since I can't handle the high quality ones. Now once I get that 2gb worth of vram......

I don't use it because I prefer vanilla. QTP3 is too grainy and "filter-fied" for my tastes. I think you lose an element of cohesive art direction when you use QTP3. I also felt games like Crysis or the ancient Max Payne games suffered precisely because they simply attempted to be "photo-realistic" but the textures actually distracted rather than complemented the overall game design. The plain fact is many photo-realistic things in life are ugly, which is why I prefer the work of a professional Photoshop artist to blend and stylize a game's textures rather than just take digital photographs and apply a few filters and non-tiling algorithms.

But again, that is purely my opinion. And certain QTP3 textures I do enjoy quite a lot, just not the overall package. Bottomline, some people actually prefer pure vanilla textures for usually the reason I have stated but many others prefer QTP3.

I use QTP3R, its the only higher quality one I enjoy currently.... that was until I got the ATP series I like them alot more and use them over QTP.
I highly suggest people useing them.

The longer I play Elder Scrolls games the less I like global texture packs. I used QTP3 (not the redimized version) when it came out but I agree with Brumbeck: QTP3 is too "filter-fied" for my tastes. Ironically I now have a 9800 GTX+ that can run QTP3 and MTAEVWD without stuttering but I use vanilla textures and a mod that gets rid of infinite view distance because I think the game looks better that way.

I do often use Koldorn and Ryu Doppler's Ayleid Imperial City textures and Mikal33's doors and flora textures, though.

I ran it a while ago and found that while I could run it with a decent framerate, it led to a significant increase in memory-related crashes, so I uninstalled. I think ATP is much better in comparison, but I still prefer most of it to vanilla. That said, my frames have been suffering lately, so at the moment I'm only running Bomret's Detailed Normal Maps (which is nice) and Ampol's roads.

Some of the textures in QTP3 are amazing. For example, I prefer QTP3's Ayleid textures over all other replacers I've seen. But I also like the vanilla feel, so I'm using Bomret's normal as a base, mixing and matching with some sets from QTP 3 Redimized, Koldorn's cave set, everything by AmpolX, everything by Mikal33.

I love QTP3. I used the original release and then switched to the Redimized version when that came out. Recently though I've been cutting back graphically because I suffer from the dreaded "I-Want-It-All" syndrome. The last time I had Oblivion on my hard drive I was running an FCOM setup with Qarl's textures, 2048x2048 landscape LOD's, RAEVWD, Better Cities, Mikal33's Improved Trees & Flora, Natural Environments and some other miscellaneous stuff. The game looked utterly amazing, but fierce stuttering meant it was unplayable for more than a few minutes at a time, even though stability-wise it was fairly solid. I did the Bruma-Leyawiin run a few times without any graphical anomalies or CTD's.

For my current setup I still wanted some decent eye candy, but I wanted to be able to play the game at acceptable frame rates while running a bunch of script-heavy mods. I dropped Qarl's textures in favor of Bomret's enhanced normal maps. I decided I couldn't live without RAEVWD and the LOD replacers so unfortunately Qarl's had to go. I kept some parts of the Trees & Flora textures and I've been experimenting with the new SSAO shader that the OGE team has been working on and I'm really pleased with the balance of playability vs. eye candy. I miss the detail and grittiness of Qarl's though, especially at a distance where they seemed to have more "weight" than certain vanilla textures.

If a solution existed where I could load up all the best visual overhauls, max out my draw distance, shadows, and AA and still be able to play the game at acceptable frame rates then I'd have Qarl's back in heartbeat. Of course when I get bored with this current character and I just feel like spending some time in the best-looking Cyrodiil possible I'll definitely be digging out that old omod...

After considering the options and checking out the screenshots on http://devnull.sweetdanger.net/totoworld.html, I settled on Bomrets Detailed Normal and Koldorn's Cave, Ruins, and Sewers.

I agree with those who say QTP3 looks too unnatural. They're way oversharpened or something... I just don't care for them.
