Does it feel to anyone else that the game favors Warriors ov

Post » Mon Mar 11, 2013 1:43 am

It kind of feels that way, on the last dungeon of the main quest your ass will just be kicked if you're a playing as a Mage or a stealth character. And there's a lot of instances in the game where being a Warrior is better than being a Mage or Stealth character, especially with fights against Dragons and Dragon Priests. I finished the main quest last night on my Huntress (I know she's a Ranger leaning towards stealth and light armor but Huntress cooler) and there were a lot of instances in Skuldafn where I had to resort to health potions and running away and the same went for my Mage. However on both of my Warrior playthroughs it was easy.

Anyone else feel the same? Non-warrior characters feel squishy.

Rogues can rock seriously, with sneak dagger (and bow) perks, they can 1 shot almost everything in the game.

In terms of game-play? I don't think so. My mages blast through enemies. My mage characters tend to be hybrids cause I don't really like pure builds.

Mages svck at low lvls but at 30-40lvl Mages alot better then warriors.

1) Mages have conjuration - conjured atronachs can kill most enemys alone while Mage is being AFK, atronachs have both high damage and alot hp for tanking if they die you can resummon one

2) Mages is immortal vs melee characters because they can slow down melee with double charge and frost spells like ice spikes and hit and run

3) Mages have better DMG when mages using Staves and Staves have highter DMG then melee weapons

4) Mages alot faster then warriors because they run using sprint all the time because restoration spells restoring fatigue with perk

5) Desturction spells have low damage but you use overpowered high lvl Staves instead of destruction spells for making damage - combined with Azura star for recharching

Im playing Mage at master difficulty and i eat evryone for breakfast without using any potions

i always play a warrior because they are BADASS
Warriors are "average Joes" its Rogues and Mages who are Badass because Rogues and Mages req more buttons to press then warriors. Warrior is better then rogue and mage only at low levels

i think rouges are some of the best characters in skyrim, i mean no enemy has an advantage over 30x dagger backstab. And if you level your rouge right you can pretty much just do standing fights just as well as a warrior (high light armor and smithing. Only upgrade health)

I've completed the main quest with one character, a Level 62 mage. So Skuldafn for me was mostly Death Overlords armed with ebony bows. I took some hits, but I'd just find some cover, cast a healing spell and then get back out and fight them. Having a Flame Thrall was really helpful as well, and the Storm Call shout got me out of one particularly bad situation.

The final fight with Alduin was kind of a joke. I used a Fortify Marksman potion and cast a Bound Bow. One Dragonrend and about five shots from the bow, and it was all over.

Here is a secret. If things go to [censored] get out a sheild, I have pure mage and he has a sheild so if he come up against melee i can block, bash and retreat.

Mages best ally is DISTANCE! DISTANCE! DISTANCE!

I haven't tried a stealth character yet, but so far the game seems balanced. My issue is that lockpicking and speech level so quickly, because there's no alternative to lockpicking and because any transaction boosts your speech skill.

Warriors tend to have it easier in most games because they're a more straightforward class. You get lots of HP, a steady source of damage, and the rest is gravy. Mages, though, are more vulnerable, so you have to worry about either keeping your distance or investing heavily in protection magic.

I think a great way to fix the whole balance between classes issue prevalent in gaming would be to get rid of HP altogether. Warrior classes would focus on blocking and dodging, sneaks would be all about killing the enemy before they kill you, and mages would be able to slay their enemies from a distance without doing the hokey pokey all over the dungeon.

Mage with good staff with high dmg and Azura star for recharching staff still can kill npcs faster by spamming shock chains

I dont think storywise warriors is better, Mage bosses who spam frost and shock spells is harder to kill then melee bosses. Also Bretons and Dark Elves racials is better then Nord racials.

anyone can use a staff? Actually the whole idea of rouge/warrior/mage in this game is ridiculous, the devs went out of their way to make the game classless. Even the generic-dragonborn is a jack of all skills type of character

I play mostly rogue and mixed (my main is a jill of all trades heavily geared towards subtlety) and it certainly seems balanced for all, depending on how you play. I in fact think that Warrior is the weakest class out of all of them -- all they have is some extra attack damage and a shield for defense if going the SnS route -- both mitigated by a certain loophole, if the player so chooses (not me though, heh).
Mages start out struggling a little but once they perk up and get some good gear, they're practically indestructable. Extremely fun to play as, too.

My main character has always been leaning towards stealth and she's never had problems confronting foes face to face and I do it whenever I'm in a hurry. She fells them slower but gets through whatever area it is faster overall.

After all, no one can argue with the multipliers on stealth weapons. Hell, you can even get them on full-sized swords if I recall correctly. MINIMUM 600% damage on archery AND melee weapons? Hard to argue with that.

Say she's using a bow with... 95 damage. Pretty average. With the stealth bonus she deals 570 damage + [arrow]. Not sure if arrows get multiplied though, but if they do that would mean a single arrow can deal more damage than a higher-tier claymore.

Story-wise, yes because dumb Nords.

Gameplay-wise, no. In fact I had a far better time finishing the MQ with magey characters than I did with my one-and-only pure melee character. Is Alduin supposed to ignore stagger from a melee weapon?

Classless....?
...ya like in past games you picked your skills to create a class, the archtypes of the classes were called rouge warrior or thief, skyrim doesn't really have that going on, so it is a leveling system without classess...hence classless.
