Does killing house prevent me from getting his version of th : Fallout: New Vegas

Nope. I think it's dependent on your reputation with the Strip. I had to go shoot up some Securitrons before I got the Independent dialog.

See if you have any rep with the strip at all in your pip boy, and if you do just go shoot up a few securitrons and that should make ou mixed. Same with the NCR, if your liked or ablove by them I think you'll get their duster so you'll have to shoot up a few NCR camps to get mixed rep with them.

I would prefer NOT to have NCR after me, I want to keep trading with Bardon. Also, an NCR disguise can eliminate the need tor destrying your rep with them.

No factions contribute to the independent duster. If you want the Indy duster, you have to have neutral or bad rep with The Strip, the NCR, and the Legion. BoS and FotA rep doesn't appear to affect a thing. In fact, you can be vilified by those two factions and still get the Indy duster. I've already tested this.

I have to say I think this is correct. On my playthrough I killed house, had zero dealings with NCR and Legion, was liked by both the FotA and BoS, and I still got the house one just because I was accepted on the strip.

If your Idolized by them and start killing a bunch of their troops you'll get the Wild Child reputation. Once you get you can't un-get it, they won't attack you on site, but they won't like you either.

Umm actually you get the independant duster for aiding Yes Man till right before the Battle for Hoover Dam..

My character who has the Independent duster was Idolized by the NCR at the time he got it, however he had stopped the main quest at Ring-a-Ding-Ding so had no work invested in any of the factions yet. As such there seems to be something else being accounted for as well, since otherwise he should have the NCR duster.

For some reason if you wear NCR faction armor during the last part with Ulysses and the ending, then it negates your rep with them. Effectively setting it to zero and giving you the duster of the next highest rep, or independant if you dont have rep with Legion or Strip.

I was wearing the 'green' T-51b Power Armor, so that's not it. I never wear faction outfits as I don't like being KOS with anyone before the point at which I decide who to back.

I entered the lucky 38 and still got the yes-man duster. Didn't do anything else, so I've got to wonder what's going on.
