Does not work on high end gaming PC's. How is this allowed?

Post » Fri Nov 27, 2015 6:15 pm

Currently this game does not work with high end rigs. If you have a 144hz/Gsync monitor the game is currently broken. You can not move after using computer terminals, all cutscenes end too early and animations are messed up. This is due to the games physics being directly tied to your current FPS. Yes, you read correctly this game is having the same exact problem as Skyrim. How this passes as an acceptable product blows my mind. If I try using ULMB and capping my FPS at 100 the game locks my FPS at 50, that is unacceptable. I have tried all the little "tricks and tips" online. They do not work. Bottom line is I should'nt have to tweak anything, the game should just work.

The game does not work on the best gaming PC's currently available. How is this acceptable?

Win10 x64

I7 4790k

980ti

Acer XB270HU 1440p/144hz/Gsync

All drivers current. Zero issues with any other games or benchmarks.

TLDR: The game breaks itself if it goes over 60 FPS. We were told via twitter there was no FPS lock on PC. They forgot to mention that if it goes over 60 FPS many features in the game don't work. Very misleading of you Bethesda.

Problem solved. Steam gave me a refund. You need a new engine Bethesda or be prepared to be left in the dust.

Thanks for bashing me for a broken game fellow gamers.

Par for the course when consoles are the development platform of choice.

Turn off your g-sync in Nvidia Control Panel. Caps your fps at 72 which is.. Acceptable..

Considering that the issue with 144hz/g-sync, is the way frame rate is tied to the physics engine?

This has absolutely zero to do with consoles.

I tried that and it changed nothing. I disagree with 72 FPS being acceptable.

I will believe that when functional UI's and optimizations are made that don't make the experience a slog on the PC.

Thank you internet police. I'm not reporting a bug. I'm discussing why this game does not work. It was released in a broken state for many PC users.

LOL, I can play on Medium 720p with an old GTX 650, and 4gb's of ram, running pretty smoothly. So i think it's pretty well optomised.

Once you try it you will never go back. It's incredibly smooth and gsync gets rid of all the tearing. It's a whole new gaming experience.

The game itself has been running well for me from an optimization standpoint except for some micro stuttering here and there. It's just the issues I described above. If you use the one of the newer monitors the game will not work correctly :(

Even with your system, with a 980ti, you aren't going to get 144fps at 1440p. So you can't match your monitor's refresh rate anyway. So why is 72fps so horrible?

I've got the same specs as you, and I'm running at a locked 60fps, and the game is beautiful and smooth.

I'm getting 90-144 FPS. I'm hitting 144 FPS in the museum. I have not been able to lock my FPS at 60 using inspector and/or .ini files. Did you try another method to get the game locked at 60?

It shouldn't matter though. The game should work. I did not buy a 144hz monitor and a 980ti to game at 72 FPS.

Again, so far never found a diffrence between any fps rate, and I played both 30 and 60 fps games.

Bethesda stated that the game needs to be set at max 60fps per whatever method chosen (VSync, MSI Afterburner, etc) in order to work properly. This has been known for awhile now.

Yeah, I certainly would like to play at 100fps as my system will support it just fine. Unfortunately, it is the way it is.

Oh? I didn't know that. I recall reading a tweet where they said FPS is not capped on the PC. You would assume that you could play the game above 60 fps then. I'll google for that info. Thanks, bud.

I've been googling this issue and your reply is the first time I have ever heard this info.

Then you are the huge minority in PC gaming. How can you not tell the difference between 30 and 60 fps?

Turn off in game vsync
Ipresentlevel to 0 in one of the .ini's

With my fps capped at 120 adaptive vsync haven't seen anything untoward, except terminals a lot. Quicksave before them

The fact is the game doesn't allow high end PCs to function as they were designed to. It doesn't matter if you personally can't notice the difference.

To me, anything over 60 frames per second is just gravy. I can barely tell the difference at all but it makes the controls more responsive so I'm all for it.

But if I actually bought a high end gaming PC that's designed to deliver this sort of experience, I would be very peeved that a game is literally causing my computer to stop functioning properly.

I feel like you're focusing on the fps argument when the OP clearly talked about other problems as well.

"You can not move after using computer terminals, all cutscenes end too early and animations are messed up. "

Also, the entire game world goes into super speed and you pretty much can't play the game at all. You spent 60 dollars on a game that does not work.

This is completely unacceptable

Thank you. This is a huge problem. Everyone starts bashing your PC specs and choices. We are all PC gamers and should stick up for each other in situations like this. We all love the same thing, PC gaming!!!

This game seems much better behaved than Skyrim. Even Skyrim 100 fps will be fine, wih the exception of some long distance animations spazzing out at the limit of visual contact

Simply cant, feels just the same, hence why Im one of those that dont cry when a game has a fps cap, even if said cap is 30, currently playing my PS4 copy of Fallout 4 with said 30 fps cap and having no issue with visuals or gameplay.

Honestly feel like fps become the new bit thing, some number thats just a shallow bragging thing, we could happily find 30 fps to be fine before, why cant we be fine with it now?

I'm sorry but you are completely wrong and there is evidence everywhere that you are. FPS has been a "thing" in gaming since forever no matter what platform. You're trying to turn this into an argument. Please stop derailing my thread.

Even on a PS4 the difference between 30 and 60 FPS is night and day.

The dangers of buying a pc game, a game dev can not respond to every little demand everyone have, in this case OP has to try and cap close to 60 then, or I guess demand a refund.
