As I posted a couple days ago, I reinstalled the game for Dead Money. Still haven't gotten to the DLC yet, but I have noticed a few things that might be from the patches (the notes for which I never read).

Anyway, I haven't upgraded ED-E, but when I hit level 17 instead of him shooting the normal laser, he fires gauss rifle type projectiles that seem to one hit kill everything. Is this supposed to happen, or is this yet another bug?

Is there a gauss rifle in his inventory, with MFC? If so, he'll use it.

The upgraded weapon from the Followers was buffed in a previous patch. Been like that for months now. Dunno how you have it without upgrading him.

Ed-E will use energy weapons?!?

No, not all. Only a select few. There's been stories of Gauss and Q-35 but that's all I've heard of.

I just use ED's inventory to store all the magazines I've picked up. He's literally a flying, shooting magazine rack XD

I remember the posts with claims like that. After reading them, gave him a Gauss etc. He didn't use it. Which isn't to say I don't believe that it happened to those people...I'd just guess it's a glitch that happens occasionally or under just the right circumstances.

If ED-E is shooting the white energy beams, then you must have upgraded him, or this is another glitch. I wouldn't complain though. Before you upgrade ED-E its nothing more than a floating mechanical pet, that has the ability to shoot lasers. After you upgrade it ED-E can be a valuable companion to have, the white energy beam is a 1 shot killer, and his accuracy seems to be tremendously increased when you upgrade the weapons. Upgraded ED-E outshines Veronica's power fisting, because ED-E can get some decent range on an enemy.
