Does Piper looks a bit

Post » Wed Dec 02, 2015 4:26 am

If they actually did mo-caps then that's pretty impressive, especially if they did a broad range so every single NPC didn't use the same.. exact.. animations.

As for it not being very noticeable before.. I agree. It's actually strange, with each game they came out I would be amazed with how incredible things look compared to the previous year. It makes me wonder where gaming and animations will be in another decade.

Hahahaha yeah I can see it getting worse as the quality in NPC appearances increase. I can only picture the Halo 2's blur cutscenes with the original Halo's bipedal animations.

About the forearm-thing: 1. wear a shirt with long sleeves 2. pull the sleeve up to your elbow 3. your forearms now look longer 4. it's a stylistic thing 5. also, she's a journalist and old-timey journalists have their sleeves pulled up and that jacket's sleeves serve as subconscious reference to that and actually I'm just making this up.

Oh he's just dreamy, 5/5 husbando-material.

...

Actually, I'm avoiding watching the video he was in because of spoiler-danger and I've only seen a glimpse of him. But yeah, I don't remember seeing a thread dedicated to the discussion of his looks.

Also, I propose moratorium on the use of the word "waifu" and the like.

The video quality is borked, reports from Quakecon indicate that it looked and synced a lot better at the presentation than in this video. I wonder how much of that is responsible for this discussion.

Yeah, look. No matter what we get, it's better than anything seen in a Bethesda game to-date.

What, you mean that term that rates female characters on how romantically collectable they are? How is that super creepy and annoying?

Yeah but when is this ever done in real life?

I think this is part of why we are going to be able to move around in conversation, just like people do in RL conversation. You look at the face as a whole or the eyes, most people do not stare at the lips.

Aduio syncing is something I have a hard time seeing a major studio like gamesas messing up, so my money is on that being due to video compression.

The Forearms issue, as someone else pointed out, is an optical illusion. Something I again base on the fact that gamesas as a major studio getting the proportions of the human skeleton more or less right.

We do it all the time. If a human doesn't react in normal ways, there's a creep factor to it. Many of the areas used to express emotion (eyebrows, cheeks, lips, etc) stayed the same, giving it a creepy look.

Unibrow, no. Heavy, yes, but not bad.

Her voice, never liked the stereotypical news reporter voice of the mid 1900s, but her change of tone at the end is not bad.

An interesting character and do wonder what her "alignment" is (doubt evil, but either neutral or good).

Her eyelashes seem to exist if I look really hard but I think the lack of them ( mine are more noticeable and I'm a guy) makes her a little disturbing to look at for me. Otherwise everything looks pretty good. I really like the body language while talking.

I have no earthly clue why people are juding a charcters looks. like come on its just a characters face and the lipsync is all wrong because its a [censored] youtube video, nothing on youtube represents the final game people, because youtube compresses their videos and the FPS is terrible.

I remembered something. In the E3-presentation, when they showed character creation, they focused on the male's face and sculpted the female's face very little. Could be that they thought it was enough to show the male's face but it and the lack of females we've seen got me thinking that maybe female-faces were more work-in-progress than the male-faces (though in that Piper-video the Sole Survivor's eyebrow-movement isn't exactly winning Oscars).

... that's the best description of that word I've read.

No! That is the best!

Of course, I'm not native English-speaker, so I don't get those "That's not how people talk" -vibes.

Better than the super mutants talking with no lips to speak of.

Uncanny valley bothers some more than others. The exchange between the Sole Survivor and Preston Garvey didn't bug me.

The forearms is definitely an optical illusion, since you don't have a reference as to where the wrist really starts what with the way the sleeves and gloves are.

If that isn't the case, it would mean she has Marfan syndrome. And to that I say, SHAME!. Shame on you all!

You need to look again, it's extremely clear that she has absolutely no unibrow nor even a hint of one, why did you bother even saying that?

But yes, odd mouth. Reminds me a bit of a tough girl from the Bronx without the accent.

The odd mouth I can see,the lips are far apart from the teeth.

Gives me the impresion she's chewing tobacco with a tough look.

Wonder why she keeps moving her eyes down looking at the Pipboy.

Oddly enough the SS's eyebrows move in the few lines he says. But her face is like painted on. Eyes blink, no lashes. That mouth ... I think her teeth/jaw is too small for her face.
