Does Rad Resistance actually work?

Since I was taking too much radiation damage everytime I was jumped by a pack of Ghouls (who apparently like group deathhugs!), I made sure to take Rad Resistance to level 3.

But just from an observational standpoint, it does nothing.

I still take as much radiation damage as I did with level 1 of the perk.

What is the point of this perk if it adds no resistance to radiation whatsoever?

Since I'm not a power armor fan, I'm not going to get into some clunky oversized suit everytime I have to face Ghouls.

Which is quite frequently.

Nor do I think it would be convenient to carry a Hazmat suit around with me, even if I was given the luxury of being able to equip it in time.

Ghouls are fond of surprise attacks.......

Not sure about the perk. I carry a hazmat suit. It's 3-5 lbs. Not necessary. I was worried about having enough rad away early on but now have plenty. I sold 2,000 caps worth of rad x, rad away, mentats and maybe some other meds to lighten the always with me load. I let rads build to 1/5th to 1/8th of the bar and use a rad away if not near a doc.
