Does sanctuary hills ever get attacked?

Post » Sat Feb 06, 2016 9:15 pm

Done an entire playthrough. Low defense, lots of water as resource and max settlers and nothing. Yet raiders take a settlement with 1 food and 1 settler.

Also so they ever attack whilst at the settlement? If not they need to add that. I hate missing the action. I build walls for a reason!

It's more or less random. I got Sanctuary attacked once....about 4 raiders. Walls are just something you can add to make settlements looks cool. I don't use walls and yet attackers don't last long.

Cheers,

Once early on, I neglected to keep my happiness up (normally at 80%) and when it fell less than 50. I got a message reading that my settlement is being attacked. When I FT there, no battle in sight because all the turrets took them out. 3 were dead on the road. 2 were at the middle of the bridge on the far right. There was 1 dead in crop field and another 3 near the small river.

But I never got a message when OZ was being attacked. Iirc, the happiness was fine but when I FT there. There were 10 gunners (2 spawned inside my fort and 8 outside.

Edit: Yes, all (7 so far) my settlements are walled with the exception of 1-2 exits.

random

despite the game docs stating things like, more likely if food+water>defense blah blah it doesnt matter

could be a bug, as settlements are pretty buggy

in my first game sanctuary got attacked constantly (despite have 350+ defense and seriously over armed and armoured settlers) it was by far my heaviest defended settlement by a long way but the same stupid 4x super mutants 2 with boards 2 with pipe rifles and 2 mutant hounds kept attacking

game im playing now i have only a little over needed defense (think im sitting on about 110+ with food and water = 104) and my settlers are just armed with non modified 10mm pistols (guards with good combat rifles) and armed with basic leather or metal with no mods or just clothing and havnt had a single attack

i have 2 other settlements with way more water and food than defense (tenpines has 24 food 24 water and 16 defense with 4 settlers) and they havnt been attacked.

abernathy farm has 24 food and 30 water with 110+ defense and its the only settlement thats been attacked so far, 4x

I recently read that the food and water in your workshop counts towards attack chance. I don't know nothing about anything so I can't confirm that's true but it would explain why 99% of my attacks happen at Red Rocket (my main base).

Level 120 and haven't had sanctuary attacked either. In my game, the slog gets it worst. I've been dilligent defending and went a long, long time before building serious walls and defenses for my non-hubs, but huge hordes of warlords made beefin' the place up completely necessary. Finch farm and tenpines have had it rough in my game too.

And these places in my game never lack for anything but still get attacked. I have a theory based on nothing that certain spots are marked for death whenever starting a new game.

I had super mutants attack once, but by the time I got over to where they were, my defenses had chewed through all but one of them, and he was beating on a turret up on one of my "watch towers". Still not sure how he got up there because at the time my watch towers consisted of nothing but a couple prefab wood floor and roofs stacked on top of each other with the turret sitting up top. I'd removed the stairs once the turret was set, so he shouldn't have been able to get to it.

Can anyone confirm whether an attack can happen when at home just chilling? I think it would be awesome to just be minding your own business and enemies spawn outside the perimetre of your base

I can, just happened to me today, 8-10 super mutants and mutant hounds attacked, worst mistake they ever made, didn't even get past the heavy laser turrets.

I can second that. Happens at the castle for me. The downside is they're always dead before I can get up on the wall.

Mine has been attacked a handful of times, but it's much more rare than at other settlements. I've had super mutants attack there once. I've had Gunner attacks there a few times. Raider attacks probably 4-5 times. I think that's it though. It makes sense that attacks would be less common there though. It's pretty far away from most of the real action in the area.

It does and it happened a few times in Sanctuary for me. That was the only attacks Sanctuary ever got. I do not recall if I got a notification but my Turrets and guards spotted the attack and killed them all while I was modifying a weapon or armor.

It can happen. It's fairly uncommon though unless you're spending a lot of time at a given settlement. I've had settlements get attacked while in build mode and totally unprepared for it lol

I'm not sure. I know my former Sanctuary hills got attacked by a Synth Brahmin but.....that was it.

The settlement that's always getting attacked is that beach one (I can't remember the name).

Also, walls don't help with settlement attacks from what I remember. Could be wrong though.

That was likely in November or early December since that was the time I played the most.

Doe it matter if it is a true attack or just a random spawn since you are in the area they still attacked and the town did defend itself without my help. By the time I responded they had taken care of everything.

For me it is mostly in Sanctuary Hills as well as Red Rocket. Red Rocket is my Home since none of my characters can live in Sanctuary Hills since they are coping with the loss of their spouse and they never return to Vault 111 or at least let. Red Rocket is also the home of Home of the Power Armors and Dogmeat no one else lives there. My Character leaves the companions in Sanctuary Hills when the character goes to Red Rocket. I never Fast Travel. Maybe when a character decides to get married again that will change

I was setting up Egret Tours Marina earlier today when one happened. Had just opened it up maybe ten or fifteen minutes ago and was busy figuring out where I was going to put beds when I get a notice to help defend the place from attack. Next thing I know I hear the few turrets I'd set up on the roof start firing away and a few seconds later the quest completes without me doing a thing. Quickest and easiest settlement defense notice I've ever responded to. B)

You need a big Amount of purified Water for getting attacked one Time a Week. Someone has posted this in a Thread some Days ago. With 500 Def you need atleast 10.000 Water. I tested it with Console Command and since i got this Amount of purified Water iam getting attack several Times.

You can also lower your Def to minimum this increases the Chance for gettign attacked to but i guess you want see ur Def shooting so get soem Water and store it in the Workbench

My Jamaica Plain seems to get attacked quite a lot. Funny thing is all I ever put there is a half dozen turrets and an artillery piece on one of the rooftops, plus just enough mutfruit, water and beds for the three settlers assigned to that location. You'd think that would leave it as way too much of a risk for too little reward for any raiders to attack the place.

That's the thing, I tried that trick of filling up the Workbench at a settlement that has never been attacked in my current game with thousands of units of water but it didn't work.

However 3 other settlements that usually get attacked in my game had defend the settlement callouts and two others had the random attacks at them occur when I arrived on foot.

i don't know what criteria the game really uses to select the settlements to attack.

I just know that after securing all the Workshops and developing settlements in a particular game some of them get attacked more than others and some not at all.

So I think it's probably best to wait and see how things develop in a game before going overboard with defences.

Ultimately the settlers always win.

I did a little test with one particular callout and a game save.

Help defend Taffington Boathouse with 3 different responses from me.

Show up and watch the settlers and turrets beat the invaders.

The settlement improvements sustain some missile damage which self repairs and I get to loot bodies with a successful defence notice.

Don't show up and one outcome is a successful defend the settlement notice but no bodies to loot and the settlement self repairs.

Don't show up and get a failure notice. The settlement self repairs, with again, no bodies to loot.

So 1000 Units Water and how big is your Def? by 1000 Water it must be under 50. One Attack a Week so every 7 Ingame Days one Time. For me it worked fine. I have finally my Action.
