Does Skyrim have the worst guild quests in TES?

Post » Wed May 22, 2013 12:56 pm

Yes or no to the question above. I personally loved all of Oblivion's GQ in that they were often alot of fun to do and made you feel like you were actually part of a professional group who had to slowly work his or her way to the top. In Skyrim the mantra of "disaster has befallen the guild, solve it and become headmaster within two days" is totally overused. However since I have yet to play either Morrowind or Daggerfall, I've no other comparison in which to judge them by and would be curious to hear other peoples opinions.

The Bard-barian college is the worst.

No, Morrowind has the worst because Morrowind's guild quests were nothing more then random side-quests anyone on the street could have given to you.

Skyrim at least has focus, and a plot, which makes i automatically better then Morrowind's.

Oblivion beats out Skyrim due to length, but the sheer absurdity of the plots of Oblivion's guilds makes them lesser on that regard.

I thought the personalities were great, but the quests were bad. As michaelpk said, the Bard school was not very good

naah, Morrowind had the worst.

Morrowinds guild Quests had little-to-no plot, and were just assortments of random quests.

Skyrims Guild quests at least had purpose, had a plot. sure the plot may not have been great, but the fact there was a plot makes them better the Morrowinds.

However, Oblivion did have the best Guild Quests IMHO.

That just made me laugh.

But anyways...

Both Oblivion and Skyrim suffer what I dubbed the "Bland Lawful Guild Problem". The Fighters' Guild, Mages' Guild, Companions, and College of Winterhold all felt... meh to me in comparison to the Thieves' Guild and Dark Brotherhood.

Especially in Skyrim. Both the Companions and College just plop leadership down in your lap. It didn't feel earned. With the Thieves' Guild, you actually have to earn leadership. And with the Dark Brotherhood, being dubbed Listener out of the blue is actually a plot point and cause for conflict.

you have obviously never played Morrowind.

Name the plot of Morrowinds Fighters Guild... you can't, because there isn't one

Would say overall I like Skyrims best. Morrowinds were repetitious. Oblivions were OK-but not memorable (With the exception of the Knights of the Nine expansion which I liked) Favorites in Skyrim are the Dark Brotherhood and Companoins followed by the Thieves Guild and Mage bringing up the rear as it felt forced.

Edit: I did like the assasin quests in Oblivion but Hated that I had to kill Ocheeva and her brother.

Well thank's for letting me answer.

The Fighter's guild plot revolves around them and their connection to the Camona tong.

The Camona tong has most of the fighter's guild stewards in their pockets and are using them to attack the Theives guild.

However, some stewards are opposed to the Camona tong corruption and wish to eliminate it.

You can either side with Percius and kill Hard-heart to free the Guild from the corrupt infulence of the Camona tong.

Or you can side with Hard-heart and kill the Thieves guild, further improving the Camona tong's powerbase.

That ties in with the overall Camona tong plot.

I wouldn't say they're the worst, they're just different. I preferred Oblivion's Dark Brotherhood and Mage's Guild for the most part compared to Skyrim, simply because the story was more unique. Skyrim's Thieves' Guild I liked more because there was so much more to do. As for the Companion's and Fighters' Guild, I'm tied on those. I like the werewolf bit, but the FG had more interesting missions, like that rival Fighters' Guild whose name escapes me at the moment.

Perhaps, but it's not like the nostalgia covered Morrowind did any better either IMO. Oblivion had the best guilds and questlines, especially the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves' Guild. The thing is about that though, is that I actually liked the Dark Brotherhood and Thieves' Guild of Skyrim as well. Excluding:

Spoiler

I think the Companions is just the worst guild/questline I have ever experienced. Completely underwhelming, and an overall disappointment.
