It's my first time playing a game on PC during it's development cycle, so I have no idea how to go about patching the game. On Console, it was automatic, but I don't know if it's the same on PC. Do I need to do anything to patch the game on PC, or will it happen automatically?

As I understand it, it depends on your Steam settings for the game. Right click on the game's title and follow the different settings to include "always keep the game updated" if you want it patched automatically, but you should also note the separate settings for betas and other DLC etc.
