Does the game ever end?

I sided with the Brotherhood and defeated the Institute. I got the cut scene and then Maxson said afterward that there was still much work to be done in the Commonwealth, going on missions to keep it secure. Now I'm starting to think the game never ends. Missions like Learning Curve have sent me to GNN at least 4 times. The scribe collects the data and we do it all over again. Not consecutively mind you, but after the data has been secured, why go back again and again. It's getting so repetitive that I'm starting to think there's some kind of game glitch even though I've got the latest patch. So, is there a final ending to the game where the credits start to roll?

Getting the cut scene is the end of the game. All that is left is talking to various npcs and doing radiant missions. After you build all the settlements you want, collect every item you want, and finish every mission you want, then it is the end of the game until DLC comes back.

The Main Quest is the end of the game but you're allowed to continue playing doing side quest, settlement building, ect.

It doesn't end per se. But the end, leaves it open, which could lead on speculations, that the DLC's will pick up from that end, and thus continue the journey. The phrase "there is still much to be done" might be a hint of this. Pure speculation from me, and others who view it this way. :)
