Does the game get harder as you level forward?

Post » Thu Dec 08, 2011 2:07 am

I have noticed that the difficulty waxes and wanes. Sometimes it's a struggle, sometimes it is easy... I'm not power building or min-maxing... Just playing normally. But I was wondering, as you get into the 30's and 40's, does it get harder?

Depends, if you build up your Smtihing, Alteration, and Alchemy up to like, let's say 80, and your One Handed and Heavy Armour is like... 30. You'll be a very high level, and so will the monsters, but your attack skills will be much lower and it will be harder to kill things. At least, this is what I noticed happened right after I got 100 Smithing... I couldn't 1 shot people with ANY stealth attack. It was awful.

Hmm... No I've been just leveling smithing as I go.

Not for me. Bears...still tough...some of the harder dragons are a pita, and also giants.

With archery, the only trouble I have is with the occasional bandit in full heavy armor. Bears and giants are easy with the stagger perk.

Only challenege in skyrim is when you purposely gimp your character by not using all the tools Bethesda implemented

I know, I was just using that as an example of how, if you level your non-combat your level will still increase, making monster levels increase. But you* still haven't leveled your combat, so you're a level 36 with the combat abilities of a level 12 fighting level 36 monsters, which would make the game harder.

*hypothetically

This, if you want a challenge, you have to purposely make it harder.

i leveled my smithing because i wanted to create my own weapons and get dragon armor. I also have enchanting up a bit it seems the game gets easier when you focus on skill building, but thats just my opinion. i still get stuck at times but with my enchanted daedric weapons i can overcome it easily. As for now i am lvl. 36 with 80 hours played and im gonna start working on my enchantment a bit so i can dual enchant my weapons and armor :toughninja:

Well, I'm no expert in Skyrim but the way I see it, it seems a reasonable system of leveling. If we choose to level skills like smithing, we technically can craft better equipment with which to fight but overall combat skills would svck. If we choose to level combat skills, we likely won't get equipment as good as in the former case, but we "fight" better. Not sure if that made sense.

the enemies lvl up as you go but unless you're playing higher than the normal difficulty i've found that i'm killing [censored] pretty fast, and im playing like you just normally. lvl 40 now but i do have smithing at max and almost got enchanting as high.
