Does the laser sight even do anything?

I'll admit, I've been a huge fan of laser sights/designators as gun attachments. But in Crysis 2, it seems the laser sight really has no benefits. All it seems to do it A) look cool and B) give away your position even if stealthed. Does it do anything? Such as raise hipfire accuracy or something?

It drasticly reduces spread when firing your weapon from the hip (not looking down the sight) and moving. Fairly useful, but I stick with the assault scope and red dot sight.

1. Gets rid of your crosshairs.
2. Actually makes him fire better from the hip
3. Simple ironsights.
4. Tells you were your barrel is pointing.
5. Is a poor mans red dot scope.
6. Is meant for cqc, and using it at long distances is like peeling off a scab, entertaining and painful.

7.Giving away your position is a given, but ask anyone who was on Crysis wars that wasn't a dedicated predator, they will tell you they don't mind a laser attachment if given for free.

Laser Sight in C1 didn't wobble and would actually hit when the laser is dotting on the target. In C2 you have to aim aside the beam. If it is dotting on the target, then you're gonna miss. Psk. They gotta make it work properly.

Well, you sort of answered your own question. The laser sight is not for the type of player who is dependent on Stealth, it's benefits suit the in-your-face loud type of player who might take Armour Enhance, Mobility Enhance, and Jammer.
