Does the lore setup for a reboot?

Do you guys remember this quote from Todd Howard?

"We thought, maybe we should wait for the next generation of consoles, because we're going to reboot Elder Scrolls."

My knee-jerk response is Daggerfall. They essentially, and I mean that in the strongest way, rebooted Tamriel for Redguard and Morrowind, and retroactively turned Daggerfall into timeline warp, which is what a reboot does: it reboots the timeline.

I think they've been building up to a reboot, and the mythos certainly allows for time shenanigans. We could make a new world. What do you think?

Did they reboot it? I was under the assumption that they created lore (The Dragon break) which accommodates for the multiple endings Daggerfall had...

That being said, I'm sure something could be added to "reboot" the franchise. Why they would do that is beyond me, though. ESO manages to be a title in a pocket of unfilled history and if they wanted to make a game prior to the titles they have now, I'm sure they could.

I think MK set up for the perfect lore friendly reboot with the Amaranth. The Elder Scrolls universe takes place inside a dream, and the Amaranth has the ability to create a new dream.

The lore of Elder Scrolls is way too rich for them to simply leave behind. I mean, this is 20 years of lore-building we are talking about, and rebooting from scratch does not make any sense. MK or no MK, new kalpa or no new kalpa, I'll be disappointed if they start all over again. This world, Nirn, simply means too much to me.

It's not out of the question, just a risky proposition. Plenty of ways to do it, relatively few ways to do it without some fans losing their minds.

Reboots...are inherently a risky proposition, and I don't even what warrants one, especially given the success of Skyrim. I would like to go back to High Rock (Though I much prefer Hammerfell), but I don't see why you'd have to pull the series up by the roots to make that work. Hell, that would probably be the only thing that would make me turn from buying the game day one, aside from the MMO.

Unless by reboot, we're getting back some old gameplay mechanics. I'd be down with that, provided they're actually implemented in a way that allows for making more dynamic and distinctive characters and better interactions with the game world.
