Does the Number 11 mean anything special?

Post » Tue Aug 25, 2009 9:51 pm

I honestly believe Skyrim being on Veteran's Day is more of a coincidence than anything else. I believe they picked it because honestly, it's a really awesome release date for a game. Who wouldn't want to release a game on 11-11-11? It's almost as if you would expect something exciting and epic to happen that day, like Skyrim being released!

Yes, the end of World War One.* On the Eleventh Hour of the Eleventh Day of the Eleventh Month. Otherwise known as Veteran's Day/Rememberance Day.

They just did it so we'd remember the date well. Plus, people will be off that day (three day weekend) so more sale for them.

Which means I'll be celebrating Veteran's Day Weekend by playing Skyrim.

* God, I can't believe how close we are to the 100th anniversary of its end. To think that just 20 years later an even more devestating World War would erupt. :cryvaultboy:

They have surrounded the release date with 11's, and if there is some in-game significance to the number 11, I think at the very least they will do their best to release the game on time, just to preserve the "mojo" they have going on. Maybe someone at Bethesda is into numerology, and is trying to "bless" the game somehow?

I think its just for the 11-11-11...I mean who could miss an opportunity like that?

Its odd by the way. The game, if it was on time, would drop on a friday (woot!), which goes against the usual tuesday trend.

I actually think Tuesday is a weird day to release a game. Statistically,Tuesday is the least favorite day of the week, marked by people having low levels of energy.

Anyone here know the company Bungie?
Anyone know their odd obsession with the number 7?
I'm thinking that maybe 11 is to Bethesda as 7 is to Bungie...

YES! I noticed that too...

They only went for the 11.11.11 I guess.

Anyways, it means Bioware and Bethesda will compete frontally for the first time as far as I remember. ME3 is announced for christmas 2011.
Okay, ME3 is not a fantasy game, but both companies cater to the same fanbase, I think.

Bethesda is sadly not quite as epic as bungie when it comes to numerology and shear badassery so i think its just a cool date and time thing not some game tie in

In Holland the number 11 is a fools number, aka a number for the crazy people. On the 11th day of the 11 month the song of carnival and theme is chosen. At 11-11-11 most people in the south of Holland (where they celebrate Carnival, something the north doesn't do) will probably go completely bonkers. Don't know if it's like that for any other country but when 11-11-11 comes along I'll wish everyone a very happy fools-day before rushing off to the store.

Pessimist!

Maybe 4E 11/11/11 will be the date the game starts? Or maybe its just a nice date?

binary 111111 = decimal 63... 6 + 3 = 9

binary 11 + 11 + 11 = decimal 3 + 3 + 3 = 9

decimal 11 + 11 + 11 = 33... 3 * 3 = 9, lol

I much prefer the idea that each 1 can be swapped with any other and no one can tell.

It's being released on remembrance day. On Remembrance day (in Australia) at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, there is a minutes silence for those lost in war. I'm pretty sure they stopped fighting for 1 hour at that time in ww1 or something, and that's why we do it.

Spooky.

Nah, the real answer is people like to mae patterns.

It's carnival in germany on every 11.11... but I don't think, that this has a relevance to TES.
Maybe Beth choose this date, because it's such a "easy-to-keep-in-mind" release date... or they simply think it sounds funny.

Well, the game comes out 11/11/11 and it was announced on December 11th (12/11/10 lol) and it's said to be released 11 months from the announcement. Anyone think this means something, Or am I just stupid?

The 11th of November is the average date that Call of Duty gets released... which is every year. Bethesda knows that Activision will inevitably release another [censored] CoD from Treyarch around the same time. Bethesda also knows that CoD SELLS. By getting us all hyped up on Skyrim we will most likely pre-order earlier. Bottom line: Bethesda wants to beat the competition to the bank.

It's the same date than the release of Uncharted 3.

... If it's because of that, it doesn't looks good for Skyrim...
