Does the plauge of Anime mods bother you?

Post » Fri Mar 15, 2013 8:14 am

I've noticed over my span of elderscrolls games on PC is the over abundance of Anime style mods! From armor and weapons to hairstyles, animations and face models, when I go to look for hair mods that are lorefriendly and match the vanilla hair but offers more in the way of selection i find that all i seem to come across is over glamorized anime hairstyles that look like they came out of a final fantasy game! As a male gamer that doesn't want is male to look like a girly man with perfectly clean combed hair that looks like he spends to much time at a salon, I'm fed up! this also goes for those skimpy armor mods for females, this is a Norse based game we should see more viking style mods for armor hair and weapons! our characters are supposed to be dirty looking with braids and big beards not some female with perfect skin skimpy armor and faces that look like they are 12. I know I'm not the only one that feels this way, so speak up and let your opinion be known!

Yes, i don't have a problem with anime Itself and understand that i don't have to download the mods but seriously, i can't stand them at all. Some of the best mods are ruined for me due to the use anime style models and stuff and it just doesn't fit in with the TES art style At all

Ethnocentrism and uninformed generalities at their finest here, I see.

Wrong. What we need is player choice and Western companies refuse to offer it, so thank goodness our friends in East Asia do.

As for "Norse" ... this isn't Norse, it's Nord. However, as far as such settings, you might consider the awesome Valkyrie Profile games which remain the standard for such settings... and are Japanese, big surprise.

People make mods for free. Obviously, this is what people want and are forced to do because the silly companies here will not offer a choice.

However, there seems to also be a mistaken generalization about what anime (or manga... or manha, or Japanese games, or Korean, etc) is all about. There are plenty of artists and a very wide variety of styles. Consider a work such as Otogi Zoshi, for example.

If you want characters that you cannot empathize with, feel free to use the vanilla assets. Others want characters they care about when playing a game for hundreds of hours, so Bethesda should be very thankful that modders from East Asia do the work because otherwise their games would be far less successful than they are.

It's also worth noting that people's perceptions of what is actually "realistic" do not match history or the practical nature of what you would actually wear if you were attempting to do various actions that you do in TES. Funny how no one complains about the complete unreality and immersion-breaking for people wearing extremely bulky, heavy armor but running across country, let alone sneaking in it.

You don't care but then say there are too many ? Contradictory, much ?

You can always download the sofware and make them yourself.

I don't mind the anime mods that much (then again, I am a fan of it, though it does look out of place with TES), I have to admit the "sixy" armors of running around near naked with straps of metal grinded into your characters flesh to annoy me. Though, it is the person's game, and if they want to mod to that extent, let em.

Go to your nexus profile settings where you can block certain tags, select all tags to do with Anime

Problem solved, you don't have to look at those nasty things anymore and the people who do like them still get to play them

Why does it offend you so much that he dislikes the multitude of skimpy/nvde armours and clothes?

Why don't you take some of your own advise? Don't like his opinions? Nobody is forcing you to read them.

Not really. I find them silly and out of place, but I don't give two [censored]s what people mod in their game.

Is there really a dearth of lore-friendly mods, though?

I mean, I'd never download these anime inspired mods, but people like them, apparently. The one you linked have over 3,000 endorsemants.

Yeah, this here. Also, why does there have to be less of one mod, and more of another. Why don't you just want to have more of the one you want?

Of course it doesn't bother me. What people do in their games is their business. What people choose to mod and share with the community for free is their business. I use the mods I like. If I don't like a mod I don't use it. It's as simple as that.

Ok I get you, let me revise. I dont think there should be less anime style mods and more lore friendly just wish there was a bigger group of modders that made more lorefriendly mods.
