Most likely as all outfits are unisix in design, but look different on the players avatar depending on six. Apart from PA and maybe a few others.

I would assume so. Especially since it's just an armor in Fallout 3 re-textured.

It's probable that there is not currently a picture of the pre-order outfits being worn by a woman.

There are only male render previews of the outfits, believe me I've looked (and asked!). Also all the demo videos have only had a male character, screenshots too etc etc.

Oblivion peeps, could we get some previews of the female pre-order armours? It wouldn't be breaking NDAs or classed as spoilers, would it? I've preordered, so it's too late for me, but it might spurn some more people on to get some preorders in.

A lot of the armors look like Fallout 3 armors. Whatever a female looks like in Fallout 3, they'll look the same in NV.

Look, here's the Fallout 3 version of the armor that's in the Tribal Pack: http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20081117124348/fallout/images/4/44/Armor_raider_blastmaster_mf.jpg

Pretty much that. The only armour that is not in some way a modified F3 one is the Tribal armour.

€: Okay, edit clears that one. My bad. ^^

It's practically guaranteed that females will be able to wear the armor. It would make no sense what-so-ever for females not to be able to wear the armor. The fact that they didn't show females wearing them means nothing.

Actually, the Tribal armor is just a retextured version of the raider blastmaster armor. See my above post for linky.

In fact, let's just compare them all, shall we?

Thanks SF, that's a big help. Don't see why Obsidian couldn't have done that (a lot of potential new players in NV who are unfamiliar with FO3).

Saying that - who is preordering for the armour? I plan on grabbing what the first person I .. erm.. accidently dispatch.. is wearing anyhow. And the next. and the next. :tops:

I'm a woman gamer too and I'd like to request that the side by side photos of male/female versions of the armor be put on the blog for us. It would only take a few hours to get the screenshots done and it could be done today. Mods, could you please see that the right people see this thread and request? :)

Women gamers and/or men gamers who play female characters and would like to help ...please post on this thread and keep it bumped up.

Thank you...see you in the desert!

If they didn't bother to post them before, that means that there is no significant difference between the male and female versions worth showing. If there was, they would make a point to tell us. Just imagine the male version with briasts and you've got a good idea of what the female version will look like.

The reason why the outfits aren't shown with the female version is because video game marketing is still backwards and sixist, it caters only to men in every way with the videos showing only a male lead if the game has gender choice, males being the hero, males wearnig any special outfits and so on. All to cater to males because of the continuing backwards misconception that only males play video games.

I had to enquire on if the game even got gender choice since some developers are now outright refusing to have female leads of any kind in games, so video games aren't likely to progress in terms of moving beyond the boring male lead ideal.
It's annoying how such a backwards concept is still being enforced.

Well, let's work towards changing that. I've sent an email but the more requests they see, the better. If they are unresponsive to our polite request, there are options that can affect corporations. I don't want to make threatening comments though because I see an honest effort to be in touch with people here. This should be done (armor photos) just because it's the right thing to do. Let's get it done. :)

I see a lot of women posting in various forums and I hope they add their voices so ZeniMax knows what we need.

Sounds good to me, female leads in video games should be promoted more often instead of either shown wearing barely anything or ignored because of some backwards policy. I would like to see the female lead for a change for New Vegas, instead of the usual male.

Do Obsidian and Bethesda ever read these boards? If so then:

Please can you show us shots of the female lead in the pre-order armour. And if possible, big if, a video show casing her please? Female gamers aren't a myth and are as part of the gamer demographic as male, please don't shut us out.

I would not really say this is necessary in this sandbox game, but making the lore version of one of the previous leads a woman might be nice for a change. I was honestly surprised and delighted when Bioware showcased a female Hawke for DA2, so it goes without saying that I, and some of our fellow female gamers, would be very happy to see more female leads.
And not only for them being female. Just for them being them. If the industry attracts so few females, those few might change that if they convince their colleagues to get more girls into this with strong females. And that is strong character - female secondary. ^_^

Word of mouth can be a powerful thing, there was a saying in Star Trek: Voyager - 'Gossip travels at warp speed'. If more developers had female leads in their games, promoted those female leads in their marketing and attracted female gamers to their games, instead of shutting them out or like many developers, not even bothering to grow up beyond the frat boy mentality and finally having female leads who aren't like something from some male fantasy - Rockstar for example have never had a female lead once - then wod of mouth would spread, more female gamers would be interested, they would tell their friends and profits would increase.

It's common sense really and it would also help get gaming out of this rut it's been stuck in due to a lack of new ideas and new ways of thinking.

I wouldn't get too down on Bethesda/Oblivion though. Yes, I would have liked more female demovideo/screenshots, but: FO3 was the only game (that I can remember playing) then I could play a good strong female lead, equal to (and better in some respects) than the male one. I don't see NV being any different. Just wish they would mix it up in the promos though - the just posted podcast had... a guy. with a gun.

It's like with Bioware's games, they rarely, if ever, show the female lead choice. Mass Effect 2 had zero promotion for the female Shepard, which led to a lot of the female gamers who played Bioware's games feeling shut out and asking why nothing was shown - marketing notion that only males play video games.
It would have been nice to see the female choice in the New Vegas videos, after all with the one clips of the man walking away from an explosions could be easily done with a female character and look less generic.

The New Vegas videos are good, but only showing the male leads makes the game look very average, very generic and isn't inviting to any female gamers, it doesn't say - choose your character's gender 'cue female lead being shown killing some raiders' uncover who tried to kill you'.
For male gamers that may be fine since they get catered to all the time, but for female gamers it can be misleading and result in developers and publishers receiving e-mail after e-mail or forum messages asking the same question - 'Is there gender choice?' 'Why will you not show the female lead?'.

The marketing departments in the gaming industry need to grow up and move beyond the backwards and outdated notions of gaming being only for males, it isn't and frankly never has been. Many female gamers may tend to not say out loud that they play video games, but there are a lot of female gamers. It's long past time that developers, publishers and the marketing departments finally acknowledged that.
They want to make money, then hello, female gamers here who are looking for games to play, going to tempt us to part with our money?

When your Market is dominated by a 9-1 margin in favor of males, no offense, but advertising dollars are limited and you need to target the largest fan base in order to meet sales and retain business.

Sorry girls, but I don't complain about all the predominately female centered products I as a guy have to buy being advertised by and marketed towards females as their main customer base. I'm talking about things like home appliances, cleaning products, essential every day life stuff here, not some stupid video game either.
