Does the rifle "This Machine" have an attached scope? Can you attach a scope?

No and no, unfortunately. Anything that is considered "unique" cannot be modified, even if there are mods for the base version of that weapon (though in this case there is no "normal" variant of the gun).

Dont think so. Im still working on getting it, but its not pictured with one on the wiki.

I want it no matter what, because they named it for Woody Guthrie’s guitar.

I'm not sure if it's shown on the wiki, but on one side of the gun is written "Well this machine kills commies" :)

No scope. The peep sight is outstanding though allowing for good distance shooting.

My only problem with this gun is the caliber. For those who don't know; it is modeled after the M1 Garand, which is a .30-06 caliber rifle.

Last thing I need is a Brush Gun Mk2. An awesome weapon you have to do some stupid things (if lucky) to get ammo for.

Unless you order the http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/manufacturers_id/197/products_id/27876 I suppose.

On the one hand yes, all the originals were .30-06. But it's also not like the in-game version is a complete fabrication either, see.

Yeah, yeah. :bonk:

@Momaw, I'm a huge fan of the .308/7.62 NATO. However, I'm a traditionalist when it comes to the M1 Garand. :D

That being said. I was very pleased to see a rendition of this great rifle in the game. :)

"This Machine" uses .308 ammo so you can carry a fully modded +Sniper Rifle for sneak critical scope sniping and "This Machine" for medium to close range killing via Iron sights or VATS.

It also works well with Hand Loaded .308 JSP rounds and Grim Reaper's Sprint. Because of the lower AP cost you can get a good sprint going despite the GRS nerf...

Navy rechambered their M1s to 7.62 NATO and used them for many years after the Army and Marines switched to the M14.

if you take a closer look on how this weapon works, you might see, why a scope is out of rule...

"This Machine" is already overpowered as is... imagine putting a scope on the thing.

Actually, M1 Garands were mounted with offset scopes. But, it wasn't widely used as most snipers prefer the stability and accuracy of bolt action rifles.

They tried a chamber insert first.....after that didn't work so well they started rechambering or rebarreling them. In the '80s they were using them as drill rifles at the RTCs. Beretta also made Garands in 7.62 N for the Italian Army and some other Euro forces.

Its an M1 Grand. Putting a scope on it would be very hard to do. If you havnt noticed...you load the gun from the top of the gun, right in the area where a scope is usually mounted. Sure there are offset scopes, but they are hardly used, and not as reliable.

Huh. Funny you should say that, an offset scope mounted to the side of the receiver worked out just fine for the Mosin Nagant + PU and the Karabiner 98K which both load from the top. And somebody already linked us to a video of a Garand with glass.

Slightly to one side, it's worth noting that all relatively modern Soviet and Russian small arms have scope mounts on the side of the receiver, not the top (such as, for random example, http://www.canonshooter.com/photos2/ak103k-5.jpg). These probably don't count toward defeating your fallacy though, since they have detachable magazines that insert from the bottom.
