Does this game reward ganking in any way?

Does this game reward ganking in any way? Lets say one wants to play this title some time in a group, storm keeps and on the other hand also sneak around solo and gank here and there. What reward do you officially get out of the latter? Are you awarded currency, xp what so ever from killing other players?

Well, you get a quest update for killing a player. You get alliance points for killing a player. You get xp for killing a player. You get to crouch over said player if thats your thing.

Turning in the quest gets your exp, alliance points, and money.

Yes, you are rewarded for ganking if you wish, not saying it will be the most efficient way to get those rewards though.

Just following the zerg, taking keep by keep, will give you more rewards over time,

But is it fun? maybe the first week, but after a time not anymore.

Think than if you solo, the biggest reward is that you killed the other player.

You are only rewarded alliance points and the satisfaction of killing that poor bastard that will probably come on the forums and cry like a baby. =)

No. Other than personal satisfaction no. You get way more alliance points by just sticking to the zerg, too.

I would go ganking in my..."spare time".

Once you hit level 50, mobs in Cyrodiil do not drop Veteran Rank gear, nor do they give Veteran experience. The quests give a very small amount of exp and gold compared to what can be gained outside Cyrodiil.

As a result, there is really no reason for any PvE player to go to Cyrodiil once he hits 50, so the only people you'll be "ganking" will be other PvPers. You'll get much, much better rewards just staying with the zerg.

One man's 'ganking' is another's 'preventing reinforcements reaching/returning to the front-line' so regardless of individual reward you are making gains for your faction and indirectly gaining from their success defending a keep by stopping enemy players getting to the battle.

No idea why people think gankers mainly target pve-ers. I gank everything, I don't care what gear it has. I even favor difficult targets because a 1v1 against a strong opponent is that much more satisfying when successful.

There is no ganking in this game what-so-ever, because the only way you can get killed is by consenting to PvP.

If you can, (possibly not just because on numbers vs you) when people are respawning, you can try picking them off slowing down their attack. Probably be a good idea to have a small team to gank quicker 1 targets then run away from their LOS then track and gank the next target. (If it takes you 10 seconds to kill one target, there is a potental this may cause a sceen and people will come help that guy getting gank. If a team can focus fire and kill a target witin a few seconds then run, the reinforcing team can't really react and even if they do they will loose more front line men looking for your group.)

100 times this. I was going to say just this but you did it better.

Because of the respawn mechanic in this game there will always be people running back to the fight. If you can distract or kill multiple enemies on their way back you are being very helpful.

At one point i had about 20+ people looking for me for a good half hour. While I picked off a few here and there. Was a blast.

I like to think i personally rewarded many, many, MANY players who ganked me as i tried to do spy missions in Cyrodiil. And i also like to think i rewarded my own blacksmithing lvl as i repaired all the damage.

You can't take gear or gold off a player in PvP (which I think this thread might have quietly been asking and the point was missed, forgive me if I'm wrong).

What you do get, is the satisfaction of having killed someone.

Feel that warm glow inside you? That is the reward.

What you want to do is pick up one of those "kill x number of enemy player" repeatable quests from the billboards in your home keep and then turn it in for cash when you have reached the target.

A lot of people seem to have wildly different ideas on what "ganking" is. Tip: it's name came from the phrase" "gang killing". In it's purest form, it is simply a larger group attacking a smaller group that has essentially no chance to win. Most people think of say 5 on 1 or 20 on 5, etc, but it could even be 200 on 30. A skilled, organize "gang" of say 4 to 8 can take on larger groups, taking them one at a time, or when they are focused elsewhere (such as trying to siege a keep). I've seen videos of exactly that, and it's impressive.

Some people associate 1 or more high level players going into a low level enemy zone to kill players who have no chance. First, that's not "ganking", it's "griefing". Second, it's not possible in ESO.

The question asked in this thread though, is "what is the reward".

i believe the dev's have stated, that you get more points from killing 1 level 50 than from taking a keep

off course if the keep is defended, it would change the points, not sure if its better to take a defended keep or kill a player in 1v1

my guess is that a small group, that roams around the enemy supply lines, would be able to get a fair amount of points

Pretty sure he's saying that you can only kill players who have chosen to enter Cyrodiil.

The Alliance point reward for killing an enemy player depends on the damage you do to that player, So if you solo an enemy player you get the full rewards of their worth. compared to being in a zerg and just tagging an enemy with 1 hit you will only get a tiny fraction of the AP reward. Also killing enemy players is worth far more than the reward for taking a keep. So if you are taking out a decent number of enemy players with minimal time of returning from deaths you will make much better rewards than with a zerg. For the best possible rewards that involves running a roaming group and taking out enemy groups and enemies trying to get to the keep seiges. This is not GW2. Zerging does give you teh best rewards
