Does a torch make lockpicking easier

Post » Sat Dec 03, 2011 11:19 am

Can anyone from Bethesda confirm this for me please? I read it in a book and tried it, it definitely seemed to make the sweet spot bigger on a master lock.

I shared this on a forum and many people said it didn't work and that the code for the game doesn't allow for this. I held the torch to the lock for 30 seconds and it worked, but I only tried once and can't confirm it for a while as I can't get on the game.

An official word would be great to end the debate, perhaps it's bugged and that's why it works for some and not others?

Thank you for reading.

The same book existed in Oblivion, and the fight went on for years whether the trick actually helped, or was just a comment for the in-game book. Im not sure if anyone ever came up with a conclusion, and i'm sure the battle isn't going to stop now. Haven't seen the book in Skyrim yet, myself. (Maybe sitting in the Burrow next to the staircase? I might have passed it by)

It would be nice to get an official word on this to squash the debate once and for all

There are people popping up all over the place saying it works, and almost as many sayIng it doesnt.

I know it certainly helped me once, I was going through lots of picks on master chests, I tried this and got it much easier.

It needs confirming as it could be a bugged element of the game that can be fixed.
