Only differance is Cyrodiil is better then World PvP.
Its not like WoWs battlegrounds. Inside Cyrodiil there is another world, Feels like you are playing another game thats completely based on PvP. I wouldnt trade Cyrodiil to any other kind of PvP

Dark Brotherhood wont be released on launch, which means they are working on somethink big. But needs alot of thinking to be done too, An contact thats based on other player might never be fulfilled, Contact that stays in the middle of enemy group cannot be slain either. Also will contacts be given by other players or NPCs. If its given by other players will you be able to assasinate guys on your own faction . If so will Dark Brotherhood members be able to kill people outside cyrodiil?.
Outside of Cyrodiil would be tricky, but it certainly gives the Dark Brotherhood a wide variety to play and test with.
Not all of Tamriel is explore able on release.
This simply means, those borders of the factions can easily be made into "Battle areas"
I got the impression from my brief GIS's that NPC collision detection will be important to what becomes of the thieves guild and open world NPC/item theft etc. No doubt those mechanics will play into stealth and stalking different NPCs for various Brotherhood deeds as well.
Could be my imagination running away with me
You can't compare Cyrodiil with world PvP. Like i said Cyrodiil is a map designated for PvP with PvE elements.
And no one is talking about WoWs battlegrounds. I prefer Cyrodiil to that for sure.
But that doesn't make a true open world PvP or an Arena queue fun too and good additions to the game. ( with no rewards...only fun)
Don't like those ? Don't play it. It's very easy.
I will only tell you what you have told me
Heard several folks say they have seen hints that a Darkness Falls type of dungeon may be available in the game at some time. If this is true, I think it would satisfy all of you who wish to have that "open world PvP' experience you are looking for. Look into it!
The last point you hit on is what I am hoping for. It will be interesting to see the route the devs take with the game into the future after launch.
As for the giving up completely on the game if it's made into open world pvp I won't be cancelling at all. If they do make it that way so be it, right now ESO's pvp system reminds me of SW's system with 3 factions fighting for control of a pvp map. Idea was great at first but the second people began quitting the game for GW2 players on the less populated factions got screwed over big time. Those who wanted to get the pve quests done in it would get steamrolled by huge mobs when trying to just complete some quest and then leave. Trade offs began to happen deals would be made and broken and the mass flaming of obsenities and griefing and such came about. I haven't played it in awhile but it could have been improved.
Although the differences so far that I think will keep that from happening is the fact that it takes about 30 min to go from one side of the map to the other. I got a bad habit of determination, but running constantly from side of map to other side wasting hours of improving my character... yeah I think I would rather just improve my character than waste time trying to find someone to attack that's hiding or be attacked myself. I am about 50/50 on the whole game being pvp oriented. I think the game is fine with the setup as of now. I would think future content could open new areas to open world pvp for those areas for endgame purposes. Then again we can all give ideas out for a way to work this to not turn players away who want it one way or the other. In the end the way it is now is not a bad place for them start with.
Yup, PvP area is quite big and enaugh for those who truly wish to have open PvP.
It feels like those who want open world pvp in ESO are the ones that gank PvE'ers instead of daring PvPers. Cyrodiil basically gives everythink an open world pvp can give and alot more.
I think you logic is flawed. This isn't WAR where 2 or more countries are trying to obliterate each other. This is much more akin to the roman empire when 2 generals would go at it with their private armies for the control of the city of Rome and the ability to place their guy on the throne. Right now everyone thinks of themselves as imperial citizens and it's not in anyone's interest (well, except the daedric prince) to go raiding in the homelands and breaking that bond. When the dust has settled and a new emperor is on the throne, the winner still wants everyone to think of themselves as loyal subjects of the empire.
These forums man, I just... it's like one eternal round of whack a mole.
IDK if it goes against "lore" but I would say that the lack of FFA Full-Loot PvP goes against the TES spirit.
In all 5 main TES games you've always been able to attack anyone at any time for any reason (with just consequences for law-breakers) and if you manage to kill them, take everything they have on their body.
Now there is of course precedent for this in MMOs with one of the earliest popular MMOs, Ultima Online, but this has become less and less popular over the years so they opted out.
If ESO was focused solely on representing TES in an MMO though, it'd have FFA full-loot rules for players and NPCs.
Thing is with the Player Characters being at a certain level you could view it as the factions deploying you in Cyrodil instead of the other zones being attacked as part of the 3 way war for the Throne.
I like the current situation with PVE outside, PvP inside. I wouldn't mind seeing dueling, nor would I mind an Arena system which allowed for small teams in tightly regulated fights to face off.
I also would not mind players being able to turn on an entirely voluntary 'pvp flag' that would allow them to get jumped in regular PvE areas by opposing players who are also flagged.
But I am against multiple servers, as well as PvE Cyrodill and forced PvP outside of Cyrodill.
ty guys for keeping it clean and staying on subject most of the responses have proved my point on how the community will always be divided over to have PVP or to not have PVP on the next big thing MMO . again you cant please everybody but not giving a option will causet not only first month sells but long term Subs... you also have to remember this game is coming ou tnot Just for PC its coming to PS4 and the Xbox One wich i can tell you would have a major PVP base due to this could be most of the counsel gamers first MMO. where talking about people who play nothing but games where your always trying to kill other people... how long do you think the island zerg feast will keep them busy enough to pay not only 15 bucks a month but also there xbox live or PSN fee each month.....
a few post from some of you guys did bother me in the way you guys think. you have some who out right say they would Quit if there was pvp. these same people i bet are the ones are who always running around MMO's solo and got ganked once and it left a sour taste in there mouth.. anyways most real gankers gank a solo target who is in the middle of nowhere wich to me to though of being ganked in the middle of nowhere makes the game exciting just like the gankers get excited about the Thrill of the HUNT!!! now im betting most of the people who complain have never been ganked so bad that it ruined a game for them most gankers kill a target then off to the next guy. yes you might have that 1 person who wants to corpse camp or camp a certain quest yes thoughs type of people are what gives PVP a bad rap but we are talking at 1% at most of the population are that type of gankers and even then all you would have to do is post in chat and that ganker would be ran off in less then 5 minutes.....
also one post was talking about all the quest and dungens and BLAH BLAH BLAH the game will have at launch i have to ask you is this your first MMO? it usaly takes a atleast 6 months after launch just to get the things advertised for launch. everybody who has played many MMO launches know they are ALL crap and its a glorified payed BETA for the first 3 months at least.. again another reason why not allowing pvp in a game where the whole story is 3 alliances or trying to take control of a major city yet dont fight each other except on a island will get old faster then they have time to fix the launch issues...
also for the people who dont agree with me guess what? I Agree with you that you should not be Forced if you dont want too but why in every MMO do your types demand PVP players only be Forced to PVE unless they go into a battle ground mini game style place...
AS FOR LORE again some of the response have made no since other then the few who say they dont care about Lore. yes they change lore for every ES game but never in a Elders scroll game have i seen it go against its own lore in its current game.. to me it seems like a easy fix on the lore part just say everybody is friends and they all have a common enemy Giant spiders and walking skeletons and pesky Wolfs..
also what about the role player crowd who's playstyle is to play strictly for the lore how can they roll play if there most hated enemy is questing right next to them.. again there goes another chunk of crowd leaving in the first couple months...
so for the purpose of this thread i would like to see people say why the lore of 3 alliances trying to control a city should be ignored and why as A PVE only player why you would not want to support having a PVP server rember in your response though that the more people that are happy the better this game will be years from now and all the added content and patches that will come from all the SUB money and that the less people happy mean this game wont make it moere then a year or 2 and after 6 months the only added content will come in the form of expansions just to keep the game from closing down... this game has alot going for it using the elders scrolls license if it fails we will probly not see a AAA developer take a chance on a MMO again for years to come just look at bioware and there flop of a game that took the easy way out and used a battleground system wich completly killed any lore to that franchise
I do not believe that anything that goes on with the Alliances will change lore, other aspects/areas of the game though? I do believe some things might come up. In a weird way lore and things you see in Skyrim sort of cement the Alliances idea, for example Argonians and Dark Elves living in Windhelm with the Nords.
I've actually had a thread going in the lore section on this very subject, well sort of. http://www.gamesas.com/topic/1486553-how-will-eso-change-lore/
That's kind of the assumption I've been getting from all these posts about PVP needing to be open world. As long as they update both sides of the content (pve and pvp) it's fine the way it is.
(following up on ThumbShanks comment and the comment he quoted).
I admit that some players prefer open-world, anytime PvP. I've been playing such a game for over a decade. And I understand that others don't seem to understand where the urge comes from.
But EvE has mechanics set in place to allow players to protect themselves and continue to play. There are no levels, and only a certain amount of difference in skill no matter the difference in ships. As I've proven repeatedly over the years, the unique advancement system (as well as the natural limitations of combat between ships of different sizes), means that even a new player has a chance to at least escape and evade.
What mechanics would ESO put in place to stime the 'gank' feeling of, say, a level 15 attacking a level 10 player? The attribute difference alone will give the level 15 significantly more survivability while keeping his damage and ability to strike on par. Essentially, unlike EvE, the level 15 player has every advantage.
In my opinion, open world PvP games fail when they do not balance the levels. Start everyone at 50 with decent gear? I'm all for it. Autobalance players like Cyrodill does? All for that, too. But if you take the current leveling mechanics and simply place full-on PvP on top of them, you'll experience a much smaller server population that realizes the inherent inbalance of the system.
As well, each zone/dungeon/town would need multiple points of entry and exit (probably needed to be added anyhow) to limit camping at least by a small margin. And secure zones should also be put in place with NPC overwatch.
