I got a stray dog to follow me out side of helgen. And then i fast traveled and when i looked around and there was no sign of the dog. I waited about 10 days still no dog so then i tried to go to dawn guard and tried to get bran (husky) to follow me and it says i already have an animal i have 2 horses that's not it is it? (Horses are shadowmere and i bought the horse from whiterun) I tried every thing i could think of. I never told the dog to wait.

Go to http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Meeko%27s_Shack in Hjaalmarch and have the dog named "Meeko" follow you, then dismiss him. This is the only known way to solve this issue. You should be able to get the "husky" to follow you after this.

The encounter with the "stray dog" is broken badly and can repeatably cause this problem to occur. If you encounter the stray dog again, it is best to tell him "it's to go home," otherwise he will not be removed as a follower and you will end up with the same problem when he vanishes again. Of course, the "Meeko method" (mentioned above) can be used repeatably to fix this bug, unless he's dead.
