Prior to leaving on the boat to Point Lookout, I was advised that my good canine companion Dogmeat would await my return at Vault 101. About the last 4 or so trips to Point Lookout this indeed has been the case. This last visit I checked into room 10 at the motel, went to sleep for about 12 hours and when I awoke, low and behold there was my buddy Dogmeat. Has this happened to anyone else? If this is not a glitch should I also expect Hawkes, my other companion , to also arrive in Point Lookout?

It is a glitch.
The transport boat fires a script which fires the companions, transports them to home base, and toggles radio stations off when going to Point lookout, or the pitt for that matter.
The only companion I had appear in Point Lookout was Colonel Autumn, from a mod, whom I had in tow when I visited Point Lookout once.

I had Lucien Lachance turn up in Point Lookout once, he is a persistent bastard that one.

I had Dogmeat show up at PL, and I had never take him as a companion. He was fighting a few locals at a campsite I came across. I helped him dispose of the baddies, then took him as a companion for the rest of my visit.
