Dogmeat should not be able to carry your loot

Its stupid and unrealistic for a dog to be a pack mule. Another dumbed down mechanic imo.

Yeah, I've never seen dogs carrying anything before.

Inorite? It's, like, this jarringly unrealistic note *forced* on us in the middle of this otherwise completely realistic survival sim.

There is a couple at my local Farmer's market who have a Retriever with a pair of back panniers. He is more than happy to help carry the stuff.

Know one who have used their dog to carry stuff on long foot trips. Carrying capacity is mostly volume limited so they let him carry oil for the primus.

In the game its used to not make dogmeat strongly handicapped over other followers.

Cliche debate tactic when you have no weight to your argument. Of course the game's not realistic, but there still needs to be some internal logic otherwise why not give dogmeat a voice and backstory... hey there's supermutants so anythings possible right?

Then don't give him stuff? You can set your own limits.

Its also unrealistic that any of your companions are able to carry your loot (or the player) since there is no visible sign of where they (or indeed the player) are storing the loot.......really though if Dogmeat didn't carry any loot then that would be a major reason not to use him since your limited to one companion for some reason and I always need to give the companion some loot, its there main reason for existing.

Carrying loot in most games is pretty unrealistic.

Noooo! This is a game where it's expected for us NOT to set our own limits. Bethesda should be able to let us play a franchise that's mostly a parody of 1950s thinking of science as if it were an actual, realistic sim of a post-nuclear apocalyptic world and that means not being a super demigod that can punch through armies in our undies and not being able to give our dog all of our things.

Set our own limits? Surely you jest, Bethesda needs to do all the work; we can't be expected to handicap ourselves to play the character we want to play in an open-world "do whatever you want" game.

No one? So you know what everyone does with their dog? I don't leave him fully packed, when ever I go out on a mission or scavenging I unload him at each return to my settlement otherwise he is empty. However if I were to go out on a long foot trip I would need supplies and so would the dog, and that dog would be carrying supplies, because he can.

Your character shouldn't be able to carry that much loot. It's stupid and unrealistic for a human to be a pack mule. Another dumbed down mechanic ....

or as already mentioned... "Hey it's a game and not a realism simulator". :)

So should the player. Carrying six weapons (including a fatman and the 53 football sized mini-nukes it uses for ammo), sufficient medical supplies to run a small hospital and enough scrap to build a small shack, electric generator, water pump and a couple turrets in the unseen pocket of your skin tight blue vault suit (and there's not even a bulge!) is no more realistic than a dog with an invisible pack.

Imagine Dogmeat with backpacks the size of those Brahmin carries.

I might just photoshop that, but I think it would upset PETA. :D

I think if I can shove 15 suits of armor, 87 stimpaks and other various boxes of meds, a few miscellaneous books, papers, and holotapes, a fatman and 10 other weapons, over 10000 of various rounds of ammo, 11000 bottlecaps and 510 bundles of pre-war money, 7 changes of clothing, 5 telephones, 3 typewriters, 17 empty nuka cola bottles, 4 teddy bears, a Jangles monkey, 15 molerat meat, 3 cans of cram, 7 dirty water, 10 purified water bottles, and a MILA into my pack...not to mention some broken raider power armor pieces...with some extra room to spare, then I think it is perfectly fine for the dog to be able to carry similar, realistic amounts.

It's as realistic as being able to carry hundreds of pounds of items in magic pockets. ;)

I carried around 3 pine coffins in Witcher 3 as well. I just shrugged my shoulders and pressed forward.

But yeah, I have to agree, it's downright silly to be able to pack your dog up with that much stuff like he's some walking trunk.

Why must you put us in this awkward position Beth? We are trying to have an immersive and realistic experience and then something like this is possible and I'm like, wow this is just a game. It mentally thrusts me back to my mundane reality where my real life pet dog would look at me like "wow you've really lost it." if I tried to put a doggy backpack on him with some provision like an apple or carrot inside it.
