Dogmeat with Broken Steel

Has anyone actually tried killing Dogmeat with BS installed? If so, post what exactly it took to kill him.

Recently, I wanted to recruit Charon into my evil character's band of mercenaries already featuring Clover and Jericho, so Dogmeat had to die. No big deal, I thought, he's tough, but I'll just get my Fat Man and a few Mini Nukes. He'll surely die in one hit, surely?

One shot of Psycho, two Mini Nukes, three missiles, six frag grenades, and about 500 5.56mm rounds later, he was finally put to ground.

Now, I was only level 11 and I'm told that he gains 300HP per level. So, has anyone else tried killing Dogmeat with BS installed? How did you do it?

At Level 15, It took me, Charon, RL-3, Kelsey (mod), Clover, and Jericho five full minutes to put him down. In the end, only RL-3 and I were left standing. Charon used his combat shotty the entire time, Kelsey and Jericho pumped him full of 5.56 holes, Clover was using Lincoln's Repeater and I believe I had A3-21's Plasma Rifle.

And I felt awful afterward, standing over his poor lifeless body.

I felt funny once and tried something akin on Level 30, with the MIRV and a non-game perk that increases damage by Fatmans/MIRV by 200%.

Dogmeat besides me, my crouching to get a perfect eight-round headshot with Stealthboy and thus sneak-attack bonus, then I pressed fire ...

I was flying around half the whole map of DC Wasteland and I could have sworn Dogmeant hadn't even blinked an eye as I propelled away.

Kill him?!??

The first time I tried, after his Broken Steel transformation, he killed me and that was with Charon standing there helping me. :lmao:

I've had Dogmeat once as a companion, and that was way back in February 2009 when I got the game.

Cross I have never used as a companion. Vague memories of a companion in BoS armor, but I doubt it was Cross.
Same for Fawkes. He has been my companion for some five minutes. Now, I just ignore him or gas him out of his miseries in his lousy cell

Use the Experimental MIRV at point blank, while your corpse is flying through the air it should say Dogmeat has died. I think I was level 30 too.
