Don't add Team Deathmatch

Post » Tue Aug 25, 2009 10:29 pm

I'm really hoping that you guys aren't considering adding this game mode to the game, even though most of the Call of Duty fans will cry about it like babies that can't reach their dummies. Since this game is mainly about uniqueness, and it's easy to just pick an objective that inolves killing - I really see no reason why you would want this in a game with such potentials.

Don't worry - even if it did get added, it's easy enough to simply pick a server not running it, and it will never be popular or see competitive play. Brink is about teamwork, where Deathmatch of any type is about individual skill. It would appeal to a certain type of gamer, but for those already in Brink's fanbase it probably doesn't hold a lot of appeal.

I don't personally want to play team dm in Brink either (wouldn't mind something like ctf though), but to wish that it doesn't get implemented for others is extremely selfish in sentiment. Your tastes, and my tastes, should not prevent others from finding something they enjoy. It's one thing to have an idea of what you might enjoy, it's something else entirely to force that experience upon others because we think it's superior.

Erm :\ I agree to a certain extent, but the thing is that Brink is aimed at teamplay and movement, where Deathmatch promotes selfish play, individual ability and camping. It's a game type that would kill what Brink is made for, and possibly change the format that was set in place before the game even launched. Deathmatch wouldn't be a balanced gametype for Brink's combat style, and if it was patched to be made to be balanced, it could throw off the other gameplay types as well.

Iv had a match bug out on me once, and our objective was non-existant. This led to the game being a 20 minute team deamthmatch. I bet you can guess how lucky that was! NOT. AT. ALL. That match was probably the most dreadful match I ever had to sit through. It was very dry, plain and boring.

Conclusion: TDM in brink svcks very badly.

People who complain about brink not having a TDM are people who love to camp in everygame. Go play black ops where noone knows how to play an objective game.

Like many others have said,Brink is Team Based, and I don't think I'd like to see TDM in the game.

But,there are also some moments where I'd like to just shoot the crap outta people,so I think it might be cool to incorporate some more "Kill-Based Objectives" into the game,if it could be done well enough.

I'll play TDM or team slayer as they call it in Halo. But it doesn't feel right in BRINK.

I dont care as long as there is 50/50 with the other game modes on available servers im happy.
IF THEY WANNA PLAY LET EM PLAY. IT MEANS MORE MONEY TO THE COMPANY THAT COMES BACK TO US FOR CUSTOMISATION AND MAPS!

I would never play it but really its not an issue if they add it as a mode as as long as only 50% of servers can play it at one time then we should get a nice % of servers who will play regular harder skill based objective team play.

I thought the whole point of Brink was team work and from playing TDM in other games its only really about your score over your teams.

The problem with Brink is that it's only 2 game modes. I'd love to see more game modes, because personally I'm bored of Brink already, because we have to do the same thing over and over again. Get more game modes, and Brink might get funnier. I don't care if it's TDM, Domination, HQ, Slayer, Hunt etc. as long as some more game modes arrives!

While TDM would make this game the COD-killer, maybe adding it as a seperate playlist would be a good idea... One that objective players can easily avoid.

But, I have an idea for CTF/Bomb modes..

Neutral flag CTF/Bomb. Meaning, the objective is in the middle of the map. Work as a team to either move the objective towards your base (ctf) or their base (bomb mode). The more members around the flag/bomb, the faster it moves. No players around the flag/bomb means it does NOT move. Much like payload from TF2.

Or, for a style more like your good ole red vs blue CTF, both teams start with an equal number of objectives. Perhaps, one team has the treads, the arm, and a piece of the bots side armor. The other team has the wheels, the claw, and the other side of the bots armor. The small parts, like the claw and treads, can be carried by light or bigger classes. Medium such as wheels and arm need to be carried by medium or bigger. And the armors need to be carried by heavies. Once one team gathers all 6 parts, engineers rebuild the bot. Once the bot is completed, the mission is successful. If the time ends and one team has not built the bot completely, the other team wins and steals their bot.

*Note*

Bot refers to the robots you escort in CCity, Resort, etc.
