I don't believe those who say its easy on survival

Post » Thu Jan 21, 2016 11:32 pm

Bullet sponge isn't really that bad, headshot can take them down quite quick, and my rifleman survival one I go straight to BoS quest after that first deathclaw and let Dense help me collect over 600 f.cell which lasted for like 5+ level.

With proper investment into damage perks and upgrade weapons and armor by level 15 you will end up as bullet sponge instead of them.

Also forgot one more thing on deathclaw minigun part, don't move and shoot. It got a very terrible spray when you move which will end up waste of bullets

Survival is easy... It comes down to gear , tactics, and skill. If you have fully modded power armor and weapons on survival you will kill everything. On one character I have a quad rocket launcher that does 1144 damage to enemies at full health. I kill a behemoth with it in about 4 seconds.

The game is as easy or hard as you want it depending on what you do.

Yeah but that's for end game when you already have full modded stuff, and your level is higher than 30 where you have all the perks you need or want already.

I was talking about full survival playthroughs, not about changing difficulty halfway.

No I haven't yet! The VATS for Unarmed is completely borked and I despise it, since it won't allow me to tear the tendons and ligaments of a fellow bystander into two, how is it? I bet the poor bloke is almost whimpering as it tries to hobble towards ya before ya end it's miserable existence :P

I played survival all the way through. Go pick up pay and spray or the cryolator and some decent armor and you will be fine!

If you have a hard time that is okay! Just turn the difficulty down or keep it if you want the challenge.

Some people are better are certain games than others. I think fallout 4 is easy but those online games like Warcraft and all that I TERRIBLE at!

I am just a normal tourist your FPS world and i'm here for the Sci-fi setting and exploration. I'm 180hrs in @ lvl 53 and sneak a lot w/o power armor. Full rifleman, all rifle i carry are semi auto and do 98-174 per shot, w/25+ rate is pretty much as fast as you can pull the trigger. Sure i can take most things down in a few seconds but if i slip up or get caught in a reload they can still do the same to me, especially if they flank me which they do a lot. Plus radiation can kill me very quickly as well as explosives(i wear full heavy combat modded polymer,ultra-light). It's still feels like the first 10 lvls of fallout 3 and i'm winding up on 60 so for me on normal Beth knocked it out of the park considering prior to this game the first 10 lvl of each of my FO3 playthroughs were the most fun i'd ever had dying in a video game.

I'm having more fun dying in FO4 then i ever have before.

Is there a way to get the cryolator early on? I thought it was only possible at level 18.

I also thought of the possibility of rushing all the way down to the combat zone and defeat all the [censored] raiders on survival with the starting weapons but maybe that's too hard to do early on just to obtain cait.

By the way why would anyone want the game to be easy? If you get hit by a grenade or mini nuke don't you want it to kill you? I feel like that aspect of fearing death in the post apocalyptic wasteland is paramount to the game...

Well you can get pay and spray from Trashcan Carla at any level. Cryolator the dog can get it for you at any level even without the master locksmith perk. You can also get a missle launcher or overseers guardian from the other vault at any level. I like powerful weapons but tend to wear light armor to keep things realistic.. If I shoot a raider on survival with my OP weapons they die... If they hit me direct with a grenade or missle I die

I thought the new generation were all hardcoe FPS enthusiasts playing SOCOM 18 hrs a day for 5 years. I figured it was these guys that were complaining about it being too easy. i don't think it's made for them. Think it's made for us older, mosey along and smell the flowers kinda open world RPG enthusiasts.

Different people prefer different playstyles & experiences. I've never been a fan of frequent-dying-frustration/one-hp-wonder games. Sure, I still get hurt a bunch in FO4 at normal, and have died a number of times. But the whole "one false move and DEATH!" thing.... meh, no thanks. Not fun.

(No, I've never played any of the Souls games, or "bullet hell" shooters, either. And the only games I ever turn the difficulty up on, are ARPGs like Diablo, where you need to play through each difficulty to progress your character. Normal is enough challenge for me.)

Oh, and I've been playing computer games since 1980.

I want to die by a mini nuke. What I dont want is getting nuked out of nowhere randomly.

My favorite enemy in Fallout 4 and maybe my favorite enemy in all fallouts, is the super mutant suicider. They represent a threat at any level, they always kill you if you decide to ignore them, they run at you, they warn you, they raise your tension, but if you fail you die. Fighting them is fun. But getting nuked out of nowhere is not, you can't even be prepared for that unless you have died to it already, I consider that really cheap, unfun and overall a bad design choice.

What? dogmeat can open locks? wow I didn't know, the other things about op weapons early on, I am not sure if I want to try that amount of meta gaming. I heard people playing on survival from the start and spending more than 100 hours in that difficulty, I doubt they made it using guides and metagaming, or cheating to get op gear that way. But I simply don't think it was easy, unless the concept of easy has really changed with the time I see a lot of challenge on it personally.

Meh I snipe random raiders from a thousand yards away... So I'm sure they think "wth" that came out of nowhere! If you get nuked randomly the game is doing its job. Not every enemy should announce they are going to shoot at you; this is a post apocalyptic game. If I want an enemy to warn me and talk smack I would play pokemon.

To each thier own though :).

Those people who tell you that survival is easy is always the case where they are already equipped with better weapons and gears. By killing that deathclaw in the beginning what do you get ? NOTHING. Plain stupidity if you want to start at survival immediately knowing that you can't handle it. When you have good gears to start off then go ahead and change the difficulty. When you have a explosive minigun then come and tell me it's difficult.

Yeh....Madden Football was easy too. Very rarely did I miss on the tight end slant.

So...I stopped using that play and the game became more fun.

Some people have no ability to limit themselves, thinking that the game should do it for them. Bethesda games are not for them.

Bethesda designs their games so you can play as a god or play as a normal person without superhuman powers. It's all on the player.

This isn't Darksouls and it doesn't pretend to be.

Spec your character differently? I beat the Deathclaw at level 8 on survival. Retreating to the buildings with damaged walls and climbing up the second floor while gunning and throwing grenades is a good tactic.

I accidentally switched it to survival the other day and didn't even notice for a long while. I just kept thinking "why the hell is my health not moving? How many stimpacks must I use?". Seriously is that all survival is? It didn't feel any harder in an objective sense (then again Beth's idea of hard is more enemy health so I'm not surprised). I mean I didn't fight any deathclaws but I did fight plenty of super mutants and raiders

i agree, some people use power armor, invest a lot in endurance etc, use heavy firepower so its easier that way, i start with 2 endurance and only raise it to 4 max, i also use light armor, some lether pieces and the vault suit, i also only use small arms and for me i die sometimes for sure, its harder when you're not all maxed out in power armor and have tons of strength and endurance.

Well no [censored] sherlock, I know the game lets you become godlike by the endgame. That is to be expected, specially coming from Bethesda, that is one of the aspects I like from their games, they normally let you go farther in the terms of opness than any other developer. Maybe that's one of the reasons they've been nerfing the endgame of their games so much. Which is something I dont like. I think what they have to do is making sure that you dont start as a godlike from the get go but actually be a weakling, just like it used to be. Then you fight your way through a lot of obstacles to finally achieve a very rewarding state at which you are breaking the game; perhaps the only thing missing in their games is the ability to fight secret bosses of the same level of opness.

But that is not what I am talking about, if you have to change the difficulty settings to very easy and finish all the quests to get to level 50 with explosive miniguns, hundrers of fusion cores, fully moded power armors, and all the final perks, then of course the game is going to be a walk when you change the difficulty to survival after you are already deep into the end game. The people who changes the difficulty after they already got far into the endgame shouldn't even say that difficulty is easy, because they couldn't endure it from the get go for a reason, and that reason is because it was too hard for them.

I am talking to those who start in the game in survival from level 1, and still claim it to be easy.

I think is safe to assume that majority of people say it is easy, because they switched to survival after hours of playing on default. Which is wrong, because they already have huge advantage over someone starting with survival. Even one hour on easy gives you big boost.

Still... It is easy. What do you want us to say? It is. If you stand still and just hit to see who outdamages who then of course you will have hard time. Using a little bit of brain fixes it though.
