Don't forget the RP Interplay!!!

Post » Fri Jul 10, 2009 8:28 pm

This is just a general statement of what I see as one of the most important things of a MMO.

In all of the MMO's that have ever been created rp has always been a factor. NOW... In almost all of the games I have played that are MMO's I have seen the games such as WOW, AOC, WAR, ect. almost blatently ignore the rp community. THE ROLEPLAYING COMMUNITY IS ON GENERAL THE MOST LOYAL OF ALL MEMBERS SUSCRIBED TO A MMO! I just want to ask that gamesas please take into account the rp community and LISTEN TO THEM AND THEIR IDEAS! I would love to rp in a fallout universe and with the proper elements added to rp servers i think this could be a huge rp community, mainly just because there is nothing else like it.

this isn't a threat or anything I just don't want to see another game with as much potential as this ignore a major part of there fan base to focuse soly on pvp or pve (which I also enjoy!)

I would actually prefer if we didn't have RP servers, but still had RP. This is because RP servers tend to do nothing but attract griefers who don't like RP or RPers and just give everyone a hard time. Rather than doing it that way, we could just have normal servers that we could pick an unofficial RP server out of, this worked really well over on Lord of the Rings Online where one server was designated as such and there was very little griefing and the community was, and is, quite strong.

I did like to have a RP-Server.
Real RP means that some thing can be changed by player, but that is not so real possible at a MMO, i belive.
The reason to have a RP-Server is realy easy :
The expirence i get about that, you will have more people that will NOT only rise a high lvl char up and be the "Superman". RP-Player will be more "advlt" and accept the other. Playing at such servers give me all time more fun.
No comments in chat like : LFG, LFM or other (just my view, that i have in past)
You can read more things like : Warrior is searching group for ....

NO, id did not think that the people have to write on a RP-stile. That is nonsense.
You want to play as human together, you want to be handled like such one... comunicate like such one.

In past i see that more at RP-Server (NON-PVP).

The worsed thing i see in a MMO, was the time, people transfare the character to other server, because at there old server was to much blaming and "our" server was known by being human.
Thanks, at next they blame YOU because you did not say that what they want or act they like to see yo doing. The bad things and those one who think they ware "pro-gamer" move to this server and i leave the game. Excuse me, if my english is not so well like it should be. I am German and not so well trained in english

I'm all for RP in the fallout universe, would nearly be a dream come true, at least MMO wise. Wether its official RP servers or community-led Unofficial servers, count me in.

I'm hoping that gamesas, however, will keep the RPers in mind and keep the stories interesting, the NPCs interesting, and provide places to RP in like bars, homes, towns with interesting features, etc. The list could go on and on.

I think the title of a server - Normal - or - RP - is wrong in it self.

This genre is callt mmoRPg... massive multiplayer online RolPlayer game.

May be i am a little bit stupid but... it includes Rolplay.

In logic all "normal" servers should be RP server with some restrictions and for those who did not care about that topic... "FUN-Server".

For me, smal things will be importen for enjoying a RP-Game. The atmosphere but if you see a Player that named him self - cheesandbacon- -blackmamba- -magickiller- -overlord- or more worse names... thank you for integrate in the game (warning sarcasm).

Excuse me but 99% of the NPC will not called like -Hellandglory- or that.
RP beginns at... read what you get at information to a faction, race and try to get a name that goes with.
If you only want to play-slay-gether items and have fun... take a fun-server and do not ruin the atmosphere. Excuse me, if my english is not so well like it should be. I am German and not so well trained in english

role-playING

In my view we don't need another server just for RP, it should already be included in the game, players make RP anyway, not the devs, but they can help by adding emotes, some small animation for useless things (sitting on a chair, drinking, eating etc etc).

Making a RP server wont get you away from pricks who only want to ruin rp for others :/ if you move they move with you when they get bored with the normal server. Image

I've always played Fallout games for the STORY not for mindless bloodshed (one of reasons some are dissapointed with the last game) so yeah, I approve xD xD xD

If multiple servers exist, the problem with not designating any for RP purposes, is that the RP community may get too spread out. The only solution thus would be for any RP community to coordinate with themselves to pick a server (or two/three, etc.) to designate as unofficial RP servers.

If gamesas won't mark servers for RP, the fans will do it themselves. Image

Although i enjoy RPing myself and feel it should be implimented in any game to some degree, it is dependent on the players not the devs to create a forum to RP in. However, the OP is somewhat mistaken in that RPers are the majority of MMOers out there.

On a side note, IMO the fact that "RPG" is tacked onto any game that incorperates character levels in it's design has ruined what RPing could have been in video games.
