Don't have your first playthrough planned out?

Meh, I'm not a big alchemy fan. I've done it a few times but I prefer to just go restoration lol.

I have my character name already, use the same one in every game for my first character. As far as my backstory, I might get an idea going soon but it's really too early to say until we get the races that are being used, I'm assuming all the originials but I don't assume anymore, and some more info on the game and your character and the skills that are being implemented.

people like to plan everything out, like its supposed to be so simple... but its not.

i cant plan something out for someone else, especially when that person doesnt exist yet.

i tried planning out my last two characters for morrowind and oblivion, despite ALL of my plans, they turned out completely different, and it fit them perfectly...

my characters have souls of their own, i think... so i dont plan anymore, im just going to create my next hero and see what his destiny is.

That's where role playing comes into play. If I'm going to role play a mage who uses a dagger for close up self defense, that's easy to role play and he'll always turn out that way. Now if you decide to play that mage and then find out it's not very fun to play that character then you have to decide on whether to start over or say the heck with it and turn the charcter into something else.

My characters are normally not very complex at first so making changes as I go is easy to do without messing up the overall character that I want to role play.

I don't have it planned out yet! Should think about it, thanks for the tips!

I agree with the idea of taking it slow, going to a town, staying there for some time, etc, instead of rushing through the game. I think I'll start out as a Khajiit, but that might even change the last moment before I start the game...

not sure what you're saying, but i DO roleplay, thats just it, though... i sort of BECOME my characters, which is kind of why MY plans dont play out, because im not really myself while playing.

but like i said, my characters' destiny makes them perfect [to me], so really, i just grew to trust my characters.

i kinda take RPing to the next level, i suppose. :P

I don't plan out my first few playthroughs, I just play em' as I go along, much more enjoyable for me than following a forced plan.
All I have are few name ideas and weapon/armor ideas.

all i know for sure... atleast i think i know it for sure... maybe not.

anyway, i think my next character will be a descendent of my main oblivion hero, a dunmer who settled down with dar-ma in chorrol after rescuing her.

he'll have alot of mixed blood in him 200 years later, but that makes it all the more interesting!

Well naturally I'll RP, don't know how I could possibly power-play it the first time just after release unless I read the PRIMA guide or something.

the more humanoid ones, i wouldnt see why not... argonians have briastS, and im sure they have the other parts as well, and im pretty sure pete hines once said they give birth to live young, atleast thats what the quote said that someone posted not too long ago on this forum.

i think TES just has the baby taking the mother's race, so this bloodline would have a little of everything...

Well I DID have it planned out, but from the map we got to see perhaps not :\

I was going to head to Winterhold as my Argonian Mage and head to the College of Winterhold and the Ysmir collevtive and do a STACK of reading and spell learning/practice. But it looks like they removed the city of Winterhold and only kept the region of winterhold :(

Its annoying because being able to do that sort of thing. i.e learn the lore.. learn to get your magic instead of money that could make the WAYYYYY more immersive... unlike in oblivion ... i know its lame but for people interested in an actual story it what makes tes so friggin awesome.

I won't go in depth. Part of me wants to get in, enjoy the "first experience," and finish the main quest so I can playthrough a second time and enjoy everything more thoroughly. But I definitely want to try not to play it like an action game.

I have three characters planned, I just have to decide which one I'm going to use first. I'm not going to fast travel, unless it's for something stupid like I forgot to pick up an item in the town I just left, and I don't feel like walking all the way back. I've only used fast travel once in New Vegas, and I find the game is much more immersive for it. I'm also not going to look up strategies or tips, but then I never do that for any game.

I haven't planned anything, because I don't know how the game will play out. Thus I can only wait until I am actually playing the game and go from there.

I'm going to do the same thing I do in every other TES game. First char, I name after myself, spend only a few mins in the char generator, then head out. I run around like a lunatic for a while, questing when I can, then at around level 7, I abandon that char and start a new one, based on what I have learned.
