I don't know if y'all have thought of this, but...

I think that since gamesas OWNS the Fallout franchaise now, (Well, you know what I mean) they should go back and revamp the original two games...bring them up to speed. I mean, yes, they exist already, but, I think it would be neat to see the roots of Fallout in a 1st/3rd person format like the newer games. I remember playing the Fallout and Fallout 2. I thought they were pretty damn skippy when it came to the gameplay. Difficult as hell, yes, but damn good games. Now, flash forward to 2008; I hear about Fallout 3 coming out, I can't move fast enough! I'll admit, I didn't watch any of the commercials for Fallout 3 until AFTER I'd already played the game some...I know that's kind of odd, but, hey, that's how I work (lol). Anyway, getting to my point. When I first laid eyes on the new format of Fallout 3, I was left breathless, to say the least. Fallout and Fallout 2, in my mind, were a thing of the far removed past. I mean, after all, 10 years is like 50 years in the gaming industry. 100, even, considering how fast the technology moves forward. But, my point is, I would like, and I'm sure there are others who would agree with me on this point, to see Fallout and Fallout 2 in the new format that I've now come to know and love. Thank you for your time.

This'll be good.

EDIT: I mean this topic, not the idea. That's total [censored].

Too much would be lost in translation if you were to turn the originals into simple sandbox firstperson shooters in the vein of the last two iterations.

So, instead of makinga a new game with new lore, with new areas, with new characters and storylines to pursue, they should instead spend time, money and resources to turn 2 games (that cannot be turned into FPP) into FPP?

Sounds like a great idea.

To keep it short and simple, it wouldn't work, too much of what Fallout 1/2 are is reliant on the isometric camera, turn based combat and world map travel. I wouldn't mind seeing an HD re-release where the sprites and environment are given an overhaul, but Fallout 3/New Vegas style remakes are out of the question.
