Don't know what to look forward to any more in this series

Post » Sat Nov 10, 2012 12:10 pm

I don't know... I've been thinking about it lately, and with Skyrim being simplified beyond justification, what is there to look forward to in future titles. Maybe It's just my exhaustion getting the better of me, but am I just being silly to think this way?

Change your ways.

Repent! It's not too late!

In all seriousness, though... if you're having trouble looking forward to the series with the official releases, you should think about moving to the PC.

Don't play future Elder Scrolls games then?

You could go and destroy the Thalmor if there's a next one?

Take a break from tes.

I for one agree with ya that weny way to heavy on the simplfying route.....but tbh I dont think it woulda been that big of a deal if they actually fixed their game and guild mechanics. If the guilds made u change ur playstyle to do what they are in business in and etc etc. they habe brought back some things from older games and im not talking about crossbows, but the paid fast travel, having factions though I do need to point out that they dropped the ball hardcoe on that scenario im sorry copy and paate same quest for both sides, werewolves though granted there shoulda actually have been some out in the wild and we shoulda had a choice in accepting the gift or not or having a chance to get the gift before we jpined them.

After so long of scrutnizing and debating the changes, ive come to the opionion that the changes coulda worked just as well biy that bethesda failed to incorporate the right game and guild mechanics to actually make it work and feel in place plus their lazy copy and pasting faction quests. Im sorry we can say they didnt have enough time and the vanilla game was rushed but when a dlc does the exact same thing, im sorry its just planned lazyness on bethesdas part.

Basically just wait. Bethesda may or maynot learn from their mistakes, the only thing that u as a consumer can do is not preorder their next game and actually wait a wbile for actual reviews and not the reviews that are so in awe in licking todd howards nuts for a shiny new toy, no the reviews where that feeling has or is passing from the reviewers. And thats when u shpuld wait and decide if u wanna waste or invest in the money or not.

It's not like a great tragedy, or something. I don't play Skyrim (as of this time at least), so for me the series stopped with Oblivion. The games I play and enjoy are not affected in any way by the newer releases.

Seems a bit silly to support an incompetent developer just because they have a large modding community.

The TES modding support is second to none. It's not just a great community, it's great modding software.

That said, Skyrim was simply pared down too much and I don't plan to get TES6 either.

The TES modding community is great, of course. I just don't like the idea of giving my money to a developer who relies on their fans to make their games decent.

Stop playing the games, then. Plain and simple. I've enjoyed every game I played in the series, and I intend to keep enjoying them as long as Bethesda plans to make them.

But seriously, if you didn't think vanilla Skyrim was, at the ABSOLUTE MINIMUM, decent, then stop whining and find a new franchise. Check out Legend of Grimrock if you want a really retro-feeling RPG.

I loved Skyrim, I just can't look forward to the next game if they want to continue simplifying the game.
